Recruiting Alternatives - Retained Search or “Search” • fee typically 1/3 of first year’s compensation • normally 1/3 when the assignment is given • 1/3 after 30 days & final 1/3 after 60 days • expenses paid - average 15% of the fee • total cost about 38 1/2% • fee paid regardless of placement • pickups are another fee (at least 1/2 fee)
