  2. Objectives • To provide secure and reliable platform to develop and deploy software for ACIIL • To provide back-end support in prospect of network and server issue. • To provide secure, authentic and robust server-client network system • To develop a shell script to avoid threat

  3. Long-term Goal • To differentiate and measure browsing time with DNS and without DNS on Linux and Windows OS of IGNOU WIKI website. • Migration of IOCG wiki from current machine to HP ML- 350 server. • Configure lamp & Mediawiki (with debian)

  4. Long-term Goal • Take application as well as MySQL dump & transfer to new server hp (ML-350)‏ • Configure reverse proxy (pound) in dmz machine to faster http response as well as increase security for IOCG wiki • Test & commission SVN-cum-file server in another hp ml-350 server

Long-term Goal • Use current IOCG machine to serve as DNS server after migration of IOCG wiki service to HP ML-350 server is completed. • Configure cfengine in dmz machine • Configure OpenLDAP(Light weight directory access protocol) server with LAMP and Mediawiki installation for viable integration with IOCG Wiki. • Documenting current ignou network details in svn server.

Work which we have done • Hardware RAID(Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) 5 configuration (Learned)‏ • Install and document the installation of host operating system as Debian 5.0 on HP ML-350 server. • Install and test the compatibility of OpenVZ kernel and associated pre-configured Debian template. Document the issues faced and remedies at every step.

Work which we have done • Configure Apache server (if not pre-installed), MySQL server and PHP5 which is a pre-requisite for Mediawiki installation in the base operating system and document the issues faced and how to solve them. • Once confident, stop apache and mysql server in the base operating system.

Work which we have done • Once confident, stop apache and mysql server in the base operating system. • Next install openssh-server in the base operating system. • Use vim to edit the file /etc/apt/sorces.list and add the following line at the end of the file deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian sid main.

  9. Work which we have done • We have made 3 Virtual Private Server (VPS) as details is given below:. • Vps id ip address host name • 101 190.10.21.213 110 190.10.31.110 wiki • 115 190.10.31.115 iocg

  10. Work which we have done • Currently, Mysql is running from vps 115 • And MediaWiki, PHP 5 and Apache is running from 110 vps

  11. Task which we have to do • Next configure the network for OpenVZ with the ip address for the OpenVZ interface as 172.28.23.20 • Capture and document all the configuration details screen during the Mediawiki installation

  12. Strengths and Advantages • OpenVZ [4] is a Linux-based OS-level server virtualization technology. It is the open source basis of Virtuozzo, a commercial virtualization tool from SWsoft [18]. • It allows creation of multiple secure, isolated virtual environments (VEs) on a single node enabling server consolidation.

  13. Disadvantages • In worst case if power supply of the server lost then all services or application running on the server will be stopped • If hardware Failure occurred then also hard to maintain all files and database and same will happened which is mention above • To handle the above situation we have very powerful ups backup and very reliable system.
