Review the composition of the draft intercalibration register Review the outcome of the expert networks Agree on recommendations to revise the intercalibration network Review and discuss on the first draft on the intercalibration guidance Discuss and agree on options for intercalibration process Tasks of the meeting

  3. Discuss and agree on the draft mandate for Eutrophication activity Discuss on the synergies between ECOSTAT & RTD project REBECCA Discuss on the report of the ECOSTAT harmonisation task team and linkages to CEN Other issues

  4. Data on type-parameters no problem Chem/biol QE: JRC will make proposal for voluntary option for lakes Commitment from one or more GIGs would be needed because otherwise it will not be useful Data would be available for GIGs via metadatabase for their own GIG-specific analysis Revision of IC register

  5. More sitesneeds to be submitted for some lake types (will be specified in types-manual), and all Mediterranean and Baltic Sea types. Solution:allow submission of sites with wider quality range (Mod-High) Notification required on provisional quality status of the site (if M, G or H) However, still need to have sites identified to be provisionally in the boundaries Questionnaire will be adapted accordingly WGL will investigate possibility that all sites would be inlcuded in the register to allow review to take place in later stage Finalisation of the register

  6. Revision of the metadata questionnaire • JRC-EEWAI will revise the questionnaire and the internet web-pages for the data entry for the further data submission in March • The members of the WG 2A ECOSTAT will receive a revised draft of the metadata questionnaire on 15 March • Any comments on the questionnaire need to be sent to JRC-EEWAI by22 March

The list of experts needs to be updated (all accession country experts etc. should be there) (action for JRC) COAST GIG coordinators to WGL next week JRC/ DG ENV will write to members of Central GIG and ask for contacts from their countries to the GIGs One-off meeting will be organized for the Central GIG in Brussels To plan how to coordinate future work in that GIG Start the discussions on the options Summary on GIGs organisation

The list of GIG coordinators proposed in this meeting will be in minutes – JRC will ask names GIG coordinators will contact ECOSTAT members to identify experts for all GIGs WGL will write to GIG coordinators asking them to look at the options within the GIGs what would be applicable/ possible for their GIG – action before July Organisation of GIGs continued

  9. take into account comments of the WG yesterday, send out the written second draft for written comments (in week) ask for comments for 16 April SCG 15th March: WGL will present status and plans for the guidance (including rganisational structure) Draft paper will be submitted for the WD’s in June to have approval of the process proposed Drafting process for the Guidance

At the JRC, Ispra, 5-6 July, with GIG coordinators present Organisation of the work (WGL & DG ENV make proposal) Preferred Option proposals for GIGs Plan out in detail how we will implement the options (next draft of the guidance for the intercalibration – including comments of WDs’) Next WG 2A meeting

REBECCA-ECOSTAT: continuous link will be needed – potential for mutual collaboration & information exchange Timetables match relatively well Some possibilities for flexibility in REBECCA concerning timetable REBECCA partners will contact ECOSTAT members to ask for info in their countries (especially countries with no partners) Other issues

  12. Generally positive opinion of the mandate May be presented to SCG Some questions on the participation in the steering group but there are limits with number of people there Work will focus on sci/ tech issues Comments of WG2A will notified in minutes & elaborated in further draft mandate Workshop organised in autumn to elaborate issues (common understading on how eutrophication – assessed in different policy areas) & the contents of the document Eutrophication

  13. Regular updates from CEN to ECOSTAT CEN will give regular updates on planned & on-going standardisation of classification methods Rest will be put in minutes.... Harmonisation – Comparison of classification methods
