Celebrating Kosice: A Week of Festivities Since 1994

The city of Kosice celebrates Kosice Day from 1st to 7th May, commemorating the granting of the first coat of arms in Europe in 1369. Each day features unique attractions like the Lady of the Castle selection, Kids' Railway opening, Cassovia Retro car show, street art, ZOO and View Tower openings, modern dancing, handicrafts market, Venice in Kosice boat procession, historic tram ride, and folk customs presentations.

  1. The days of Kosice 1st – 7th May Since 1994 the day of 7th May – the day the first coat of arms in Europe was granded to the city in 1369 – has been celebrated as Kosice Day.

  3. 2nd day - Opening the summer season of the Kid`s railway. - Cassovia Retro 2006 – the show of the historical cars

  4. 3rd day - Drawing on the pavement in Main Street - Opening the ZOO - Opening The View Tower of Košice

  5. 4th day - Modern dancing

  6. 5th day - The market of handicrafts – demostrating the work of the craftspeople

  7. 6th day - The boat proccesion called Venice in Kosice - A historic horse-ride tram

  8. 7th day - Our rich cultural heritage is not forgotten - presentations of folk customs and traditions
