  5. Planning your next step… … begin at the end. • When choosing electives, what are long term goals? • What is a realistic academic load? • What do you want to have accomplished by HS graduation? What program would get you to the IB Diploma? This program starts in Grade 11. • Are you going to take a World Language? When?

  6. What they register for • Required Courses For Grade 9 • English 9 • World Civilizations • Math (by Grade 8 teacher recommendation) • Science 9 • PE 9 • Choices • Electives (2) (Language Recommended) • Alternate Electives

  7. Required courses • Math classes will be assigned by recommendation from current math teachers • Language classes will be assigned for students continuing with a World Language – students register for World.Lang.9 • Thai students must take Thai

  8. Support courses • EAL will be assigned by teachers – if you take EAL, sign up for electives, but they will be replaced by EAL classes • Students requiring I.S. support will be assigned by teachers – sign up for electives, but one will be replaced by I.S. class

  10. Alternate Course Selections • All students are required to select 2 elective course alternates. • Failure to select an alternates indicates you want the administration to select alternate courses for you. • This would happen only if you can not get into a class for some reason • If we select a course, you will not be allowed to drop this course at a later date.

  11. Graduation Requirements and Recommendations • English 4 years required • Modern Languages 2-3 years recommended of the same language IB language options – at least three years for Language B;Beginner Spanish and French available starting in grade 11 with no previous experience/instruction • Science 3 years required; 4 years preferred Science 9(required), Science 10 (required) IB courses in 11th and 12th grade in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems

  12. Graduation Requirements and Recommendations • Math 3 years required; 4 years preferred • Fine Arts1 credit required. Many courses in Art, Music , Theatre and Dance Available up to and including IB courses • P.E. 2 credits required. P.E. 9 (1 credit) and P.E 10 (0.5) required. Many options available to fulfill requirement. Plan ahead particularly for IB Diploma students

  13. You know you’re ready for online registration when… • …you have read through the Program of Studies • … you have completed your planning sheet • … you have your Power School user name and password information

  14. Online Registration—this is what you’ll see. • Log in at http://powerschool.isb.ac.th • Enter your PowerSchool username and password.

  15. To Register in PowerSchool • To get to the registration page click on Class Registration

  16. Click the edit icon to call up the selection window.

  17. Submit • When the student is done, click Submit.

  18. Confirmation • You must see this page after you click Submit. • Please print this page and keep in a safe place in case you have a conflict in May or August

  19. Do it right • It is NOT first come first serve • Talk to an HS counselor • Talk to your parents • You can go back in and resubmit • Get it done before the deadline

  20. Grades • Attainment Grade: A through F • HAL: 7 through 1 (Habits and Attitudes to Learning)

  22. About the HS • The Schedule • Four periods a day • Different classes the next day (odd and even days) • 85 minute classes • 50 minute Lunch • Assemblies and other meetings once a week
