This project, led by Tim Bates, Matt Bindner, Alissa Chastain, Erik Scanlon, Chao Wang, and Duoduo Zhai, explores innovative strategies for enhancing energy performance in residential and office buildings. Emphasis is placed on integrated environmental conditioning, effective use of courtyards and vegetation for microclimate control, and optimizing energy use reduction through design. The project also addresses building massing, site planning, and the incorporation of adaptable living units. Comprehensive energy pro forma results further guide these strategies to improve sustainability in warm and cold weather conditions.
