  3. REVIEWMatthew 18:1-4 The disciples argued about who was the greatest, but they first needed to be sure they were in the kingdom Entering the kingdom requires humility and genuine trust in Jesus

  4. REVIEWMatthew 18:1-4 2 Corinthians 13:5 - security of salvation is based in genuine faith in Jesus True greatness in the kingdom is marked by humility, not by bragging on one’s accomplishments

  5. A Believers Relationship with the Father Matthew 18:5; Mark 9:37; Luke 9:48 The “one such child” is who has humbly put their trust in Jesus to become a child of God To receive anyone that belongs to Jesus is to receive Jesus

  14. Stumbling Block DangerMatthew 18:6-7; Mark 9:42-50 You can be a stumbling block to others by flaunting your liberty - Romans 14; 1 Corinthians 8, 10 Every person is responsible for their own sin, but it is also sin to cause a brother to stumble

  15. Stumbling Block PreventionMatthew 18:8-9; Mark 9:43-48 1 John 2:10 - the primary prevention is walking in the Spirit and loving your brother Matthew 18:8-9 and Mark 9:43-48 express the degree to which you must fight against sin

  19. Stumbling Block PreventionMatthew 18:8-9; Mark 9:43-48 Every Christian should consider himself crucified with Christ, dead to sin and alive to righteousness Deal with sin radically because its consequences are severe

  20. Stumbling Block PreventionMatthew 18:8-9; Mark 9:43-48 Salvation comes by faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ - make sure you are not self-deceived

  21. Conclusions God loves His children and will protect them - it is very serious to cause one of them to stumble

Conclusions “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, [be] glory, majesty, dominion and power, before all time and now and forever. Amen - Jude 24-25
