Celebrate National Volunteer Week By Offering Your Time andTalents Monterey, CA, March 07, 2019 — National Volunteer Week is April 7th – 13th, and Interim Inc. is seekingvolunteersfromthecommunitytopitchintohelpsupporttheirvaluableservices. Interim is a Monterey-based private nonprofit organization thatprovides support services, housing and treatmentforadultswithmentalillnessinMontereyCounty. Volunteeringhaslong beenapopularactivityintheU.S.Each yearmillionsofpeople givetheirtime and talents without any compensation. While people volunteer to help others, they also get something in return. A growing body of research has established a strong relationship between volunteering and health: thosewhovolunteerhavelowermortalityrates, greaterfunctionalability,andlowerratesofdepression laterinlifethanthosewhodonotvolunteer.” Interim has a number of volunteer opportunities available to members of the community, for example, groupcookingprojects.Manyofourclientsbenefitfromhaving preparedfrozen meals accessible,soit’s nice to have a group of volunteers to prepare and package individual entrees. You can schedule a weekendcookingprojectwithyourclub,congregationorco-workers. Ifyouareagardenerandwouldliketodonateyourtime,thegarden andgreenhouseatShelter Cove need tending during the spring and summer months.
