  7. Luggage • One suitcase or holdall only. Maximum weight 20kg. • One piece of small hand luggage. • Passports and money to be kept in hand luggage. • Baggage labels for outward journey only completed and attached. • No sharp objects in hand luggage. • No liquids in hand luggage. • Any medication in a clear plastic bag in your hand luggage.

  8. Final reminder the girls need their own passport. Passports must be in hand luggage. All passports and EHIC will be collected in before departing from Beverley. They will be retained and kept in the hotel safe and distributed on the return journey back to Britain. Girls need their own EHIC must be in hand luggage and will be kept in hotel safe and returned at the end of the holiday. Passports EHIC

  9. The coach in the UK will be fitted with seatbelts. Cannot guarantee seatbelts on Italian coach. Staff will ensure that they are worn at all times. Please stress to your daughter the importance of this safety issue. Sensible behaviour is required at all times especially on exiting the coach. No chewing gum. The coach to the airport East Coast Travel

  10. Food for the journey • No meal on the plane. • Extra supplies essential: Food and drinks especially water. • Packed lunch required. • It will be a very long day so extra food required. • Some extra charge may be required.

  11. Recommend no more that 100 Euros. Drinks Snacks Souveniers Purses & wallets should contain pupils name and hotel name in case lost. Spending money

  12. Pupils will put into small groups supervised by a member of staff. 1:7 Sensible behaviour is essential and no inappropriate comments should be made at any times! Staff will be distributed amongst the pupils on the flight. At the airport and on the plane

  14. In the Hotel Mondolé • Good behaviour at all times. There will be other guests on holiday in the hotel • All breakages and damage needs to be reported at once to a member of staff. • A £500 damage deposit has already been paid to the hotel for potential damages. • Always leave your hotel key at reception.

  16. Based on 2/3/4 students sharing – we think not yet been confirmed and can alter. All rooms are en-suite. Decide on groupings – give this information to Mrs Owen this evening. Pupils will be instructed when to go to bed and asked to lock doors and not open them to anyone who does not identify themselves. Staff rooms will be clearly posted and distributed amongst the students. Rooming in the hotel

  17. The Food-Breakfast- Buffet Style • Everyone has breakfast. • Cereals • Bread • Cheese • Ham • Yoghurts • Fruit. • Tea/Coffee/Juice • Drink plenty of water

Lunch • Everyone has lunch • Pupils will all have a meal provided at lunchtime in the hotel. • Lasagne, pasta, pizza with bread and a drink – anything else needs to be bought on the spot from the restaurant. • Would advise taking extra food i.e. chocolate/snacks • Money needed to buy extras • Drink plenty of water • Use the toilet facitities over this period.

  19. Evening meal • We all sit and have our meal together. • Much choice for all tastes. • Vegetarian option and special diets will be catered for but we must know this before hand. • Soft drinks will have to be purchased at an additional cost from the bar.

  21. What to bring? • Ski jacket and salopettes – one pair only needed ! • Hat, goggles, gloves and sunglasses • Evening clothes but not large amounts! • Underwear, more than one pair please • Ski socks • Swimming costume – swimming cap • Nightclothes • Spare jacket for travelling or evening wear • Small bag for hand luggage on the plane. • Sensible shoes with grip, not UGG boots! to walk around the resort in après ski • Sun cream high factor and UVA lip salve • Any medication needed – please inform staff

  22. Extras • A travel plug • Get together with friends people you might share with to avoid bringing unnecessary items e.g. hairdryers • Do not bring anything valuable, jewellery, CD players etc.

  23. Mobile phones • Girls will be asked to leave all valuables in their room. • No mobile phones during the day – they will be handed in and given out for two hours each evening at the discretion of staff. • School mobile will be switched off from 9.00am – 16.00pm and from 21.00pm – 7.00am will be used only by Mrs Breen in an emergency. • We will contact you if there is a problem. • Any other emergencies only contact the school home contact of Mrs Barker on your information sheet. • School Mobile number 07827 977624

  24. The Skiing Pupils will be allocated into skiing groups with up to 12 people in a group. You need to give your ski ability details to Mrs Calcutt after this presentation so that groups can be sorted. Staff are allocated duties that are attached to the ski groups.

  25. Attitude to skiing • Learning to ski is very hard especially the first 2 days. • You will have aching feet, sore toes and shins. • You will feel sick and tired. • You will be worried, you are out of your comfort zone. • All of this is perfectly normal. • It takes 3 days to master the basics and that is why you will be given plenty of tough love. • You are likely to hear from all staff, “pull yourself together”, “get on with it”, to “buck up”, “to get up”, “no you can’t stay in bed”, “you are skiing today”. • This trip has cost £900 for you to learn to ski which is what you will do. • Parents you need to be aware that the first 2 days will be tough and phone calls home could reflect this. Please encourage your daughter and support us in our roles on the trip which is to get your daughter to ski.

  26. The Lessons • Helmets must be worn by law at all times. • Girls will only ski with an instructor. • 5 hours skiing a day. 10.00am – 1.00pm 2pm – 4pm TBC • No free skiing or practising. • Girls must listen carefully at all times to the instructor. • Everyone skis – opting out is not an option as this takes out a member of staff from supervision. • Treat the instructor with respect they are the EXPERTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Après Ski - Activities • All have to be paid for in advance • These activities will include: • Disco night • Karaoke night • Snow tubing • Awards evening • Swimming – swimming cap required • The cost of all of these activities and a ski trip hoodie is £55.00 each. Please pay via parent pay by Friday 6th March

  29. But most of all!!!!! • It is a holiday so enjoy yourselves. • Make it easy for the staff to enjoy themselves too.

  30. Remember • Staff work extremely hard all week to ensure you all have an excellent holiday. • Say thank you to them from time to time as they have given up a week of their holiday for you!

Behaviour • Beverley High School has an excellent reputation abroad. • Must be excellent all week and at all times. • No one is allowed to smoke or drink alcohol. • No energy drinks to be brought , consumed or purchased on the trip. • Parents and Pupils will be asked to read carefully and sign a contract to which they must adhere to. • Sanctions will be enforced to punish poor behaviour and parents will be informed.

Beverley High School Ski Trip ContractPrato Nevoso - Italy 2015 • To be completed by parents and daughters. • I/We understand the importance of sensible and safe behaviour at all times on the visit. • I/We understand the importance of listening carefully to all instructions given. • I/We understand that the drinking of alcohol and the smoking of cigarettes is not permitted. • I/We understand that the staff could enforce sanctions on the visit if any of the criteria outlined are not kept to. • I/We understand that irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated and that parents will be contacted and possibly arrangements made for return home. • I/We understand that failure to maintain the high standards and expectations that Beverley High School has abroad and has had for many years could affect my position on future school visits.

  34. 07:00hrs - Breakfast at the hotel – first meal included in your tour price 07:30hrs - Group walks down to the Surf Shop ski hire for a full fitting of ski equipment Please have everything ready to start the lessons after ski fit as the ski school meeting point is directly opposite the ski hire shop 08:45hrs - Walk over to the learner ski area with skis, poles and helmets 09:00hrs - Morning lessons begin 12:00hrs - Morning lessons finish Head back to the hotel for a hot lunch 14:00hrs Afternoon lessons begin 16:00hrs Afternoon lessons finish Once back at the hotel, shower and change followed by negotiated free time 19:00hrs Evening meal in hotel Remainder of the evening at leisure Day 1 Monday 30th March 2015

  35. Jobs that need completing tonight • Yellow ID cards need completing in full and photographs attached to the ID card – handed in. • Behaviour contract signed by parent and daughter – handed in. • Height, shoe size and ski experience - Mrs Calcutt • Rooming details to Mrs Owen • Medical updates to Ms Easter • Any other updates Mrs Breen and Mrs Callan • Any pupils bringing own boots please let Mrs Calcutt know. • Any updates on dietary requirements please let us know tonight. • Keep us informed up to departure of any changes that we need to know about if we need to know as much information as possible whilst your daughter is in our care. • Ski hire clothing will come into school in the last week of term, keep the bag it comes in to return the first week back after the Easter holiday. • Hoodies are due in that last week to collect. Please could these be worn for travelling.
