In this lab session, students will engage in an overview of biodiversity, examining pre-lab materials, including prepared slides and live specimens. The instructor will review pre-labs in lab notebooks and collect peer review papers. Students will discuss findings and complete a quiz related to eukaryotic cells and their phylogeny, including groups such as Alveolata, Amoebozoa, and Plantae. Key concepts including alternation of generations and specific life cycles in plants and fungi will be stressed. A thorough understanding of cell types and structures will be emphasized throughout.

Lab 11. Overview • Instructor checks pre-labs. in lab notebook and collects papers (2 copies). • Diversity and Plant Life Cycle Overview. • Examine prepared slides, models, live organisms, and preserved specimens • Distribution of papers for peer review and discussion of peer reviews. • Instructor overview of diversity. • Complete in-class exercise as quiz over diversity and life cycle.

Don’t leave without 2 papers to peer review. At/Near the end of lab the instructor will conduct a diversity overview and then a diversity quiz.
