  3. Our eyes allow us to capture the beautiful world around us. Our eyes allow us to see where we are going, without having to use something to assist us. Our eyes allow us to see something and then enable us to visualize it for the rest of our lives. Sight allow us to: Drive Watch TV Play sports Read Look at pictures See shape, color and movement Look out for danger Why I Think Sight Is Important

  4. How Our Eyes Work… • Iris- is the colorful part of the eye • Pupil- pupil is the black circle in the center of the iris, which is really an opening in the iris, and it lets light enter the eye. • Cornea- helps the eye focus as light makes its way through. • Retina- takes the light the eye receives and changes it into nerve signals so the brain can understand what the eye is seeing. • Sclera- is made of a tough material and has the important job of covering most of the eyeball. • Optic Nerve- is a messenger to the brain

  5. What Should You Wear? Sunglasses – Too much light can damage your eyes. Goggles – Debris or chemicals can case damage. Protective Glasses- An injury can occur while playing sports. Protecting Our Eyes
