Seriousness for Punctuality This goes for not just the office but outside the office as well. Germans everywhere are quite a lot serious about their time and expect another to be on time as well. Especially in the offices, one is expected to arrive 5-10 minutes early. Being late is not at all acknowledged and might seem like rude behaviour for many in Germany. 2. A must have everything in writing As weird as it seems but, the Germans literally are the biggest consumers of paper every year. They tend to write everything in paper especially in offices to maintain written records. They believe that written records have the most important in every aspect of life. 3. Cake is essential In German offices, every other day, there comes a reason to cut a cake and eat the same. New joiner is expected to bring along a cake with them to celebrate their first day in the office, likewise, there are many other occasions where cakes are being cut in the offices which ultimately enhances the importance of cake in the offices. 4. Sparkling wine in office Don’t get too surprised as sparkling wine is also allowed in the office along with the cake to celebrate a specific day or activity. It is a highly common thing in the everyday life of a German office.

Instead, you just need to knock and enter in an instant without waiting for someone to say “come in” from inside. 6. Office excursion is common German offices very often organize office trips so that their employees get enough time to know each other in a better way. It is important that you go to such office excursions as if you don’t, it will seem like you are not interested in your teammates or the company as a whole. In addition, one should not discuss business topics during an office trip. 7. Coffee machine rules When someone joins a new company in Germany, apart from the introduction to the office colleagues, you will also be introduced to the coffee machine of the company.
