  2. Nosotros Commands • In English we use “nosotros commands” all the time. It’s used the same way in Spanish. • It means “Let’s…” • To form the nosotros command for MOST verbs… • get the “yo” form of the verb • drop the “o” • add the opposite ending

  3. Nosotros Commands • Stem-changing verbs whose infinitive ends in –ir have a stem change of e → i or o → u. • pedir = ¡Pidamos perdón por el malentendido! • dormir = ¡No durmamos tarde!

  4. Nosotros Commands • -car, -gar, -zar verbs have a spelling change… • c → qu = ¡No nos critiquemos! • g → gu = ¡Juguemos bien hoy! • z → c = ¡Empecemos a estudiar!

  5. Nosotros Commands: Ejemplos • Let’s eat at Taco Bell. • Comamos en Taco Bell. • Let’s watch the new Terminator movie. • Miremos la nueva película de Terminator. • Let’s study for Spanish. • Estudiemos el español. • Let’s write a story. • Escribamos una historia.

Nosotros Commands • When using pronouns you have to attach it to the end of the affirmative command. • The same rules that you apply for affirmative TU, USTED and USTEDES commands. • Count back two vowels from the first pronoun added. • Remember your diphthongs… • strong vowels – a, e, o • weak vowels – i, u

  9. Nosotros Commands w/ IOP • Expliquémosle el problema. • Let’s explain the problem to him/her. • Contestémosles la pregunta. • Let’s answer the question for them.

  10. Nosotros Commands w/ Reflexive Pronouns • When adding the reflexive pronoun “nos” drop the final “S.” • ¡Cepillémonos los dientes! • Let’s brush our teeth. • ¡Peinémonos el cabello! • Let’s comb our hair.

  11. Negative Nosotros Commands • Put the pronoun between NO and the conjugated command form. • ¡No la comamos ahora! • Let’s not eat it now! • ¡No le contemos el secreto! • Let’s not tell him the secret! • ¡No nos despertemos temprano! • Let’s not wake up early!
