  2. What is the AP Exam? Know that you can choose to take one or BOTH AP English exams in May: *the AP Literature & Composition Exam (aka AP Lit) OR *the AP Language Exam (aka AP Lang)

  3. College Credit & the AP Exam • Depending upon your score, you can earn usually between three and six college credit hours with success on the exam!  • We’ll look later at which scores are required for credit at your college(s) of choice, • My job & joy is to help you to be successful on the AP Exam, but • Know that ultimately YOU are responsible for determining what score your prospective college requires (and striving to meet that goal).

  4. Zoning in. . . • Since this class is geared toward the AP Lit exam, let’s zone in on it for a second

The AP Lit Exam • Multiple Choice Section *45% of your total score *one hour time limit *about 45-55 questions *questions centered on alternating prose passages & poems • Essay Section *55% of your total score *two hour time limit *three essay questions (about 40 mins. each): •prose passage •a poem (or two) •free response

  6. Let’s Break It Down. . . The bottom line: ______________________________________________ ALL QUESTIONS (multiple choice & essay) on the AP Lit Exam focus on ANALYZING literature for its STYLE!
