  5. FLUSH Flush by Carl Hiaasen is a realistic fiction book. The book takes place in Florida at the Keys in present time. Paine is the father of Noah and Abby, also a husband. Paine is in jail for sinking Dusty Muleman’s boat. Paine sunk the boat because Dusty and his crew were dumping sewage into the water. Paine is trying to bust Dusty but he can’t do that from jail, so he asked Noah to go get Lice Peeking to help him bust him and write a paper of what happens there. One day lice went missing and they thought he was killed by Dusty’s crew. Late one night Paine had broke out of jail, but they were going to let him go that morning. Later Noah and Abby had a plain to bust Dusty. They would need to buy lots of food coloring. They were going to flush the food coloring down the toilet, so that the color would show up in the water and the coast people could trace it back to Dusty’s boat. There plane went successfully and Dust’s was fined ten grand. Later that day lice came back he wasn’t dead he had just gone out of town for a little bit. This book was very good, I would recommend this book to other students.

  6. HOOT Hoot is by Carl Hiaasen. The genre for Hoot is realistic fiction. Hoot is placed in Florida in present time. The major characters are Roy, Mullet Fingers, and Beatrice. The minor characters are Dana, Curly, Mrs. Mr. Eberhardt, and Officer Delinko. Roy’s family moves a lot to all different places and happen to come to Florida. Roy has to make new friends every time he goes to a new school, which is a lot. Dana Matherson is a big girl that likes to fight the new kids that come to Trace Middle. Roy was getting beat up on the bus one day by Dana and saw a running boy that was bare foot. Roy noticed that the boy was really fast. Roy found out that the running boy was Beatrice’s step-brother. Beatrice told Roy that she called him Mullet Fingers. Mullet Fingers hid in an ice cream truck. He also could find his own food in the wild. Mullet Fingers noticed that Mother Paula’s Pancakes was building a new place where a few owl families were. He was trying to save them by stalling them. Roy and Beatrice were trying to help him save the owls cause they cared about them to. After a while the Vice President of Mother Paula’s came to Florida to advertise it more. Mullet Fingers, Roy, and Beatrice all went to this advertisement to see what was happening. They all stay there and get in a fight with the Vice President. They say that the owls are hopeless and can’t save them selves from this. But at the end they save the owls, and Mother Paula’s have to give money to help the owls and can’t put their new place there anymore. I think this book as good and I would recommend this to others that want to read it.
