  6. Division of GIS, Geomatics, and Mapping (DGGM) • The Division of GIS, Geomatics and Mapping uses state of the art surveying techniques to map the world and the environmental impact that man has on the limited resources of the Earth.

Division of Bioacoustics and Nature Studies • The Division of Bioacoustics and Nature Studies (BANS) was created to add the “people” dimension to the well-established science and engineering divisions of the Blucher Institute. • BANS works with local, state, and national governments to help identify resources and establish policies designed to increase eco-tourism. • Conducts workshops and educational service programs to enhance the value of sensitive ecosystems.

  10. Division of Environmental Engineering • The Division of Environmental Engineering studies the fate and effects of oil on the Environment. • Shoreline Environmental Research Facility • San Jacinto Wetland Research Facility

  11. Parker’s Cove San Jacinto River • Parker’s Cove is surrounded by 1,600ft of elevated walkway. This allows researchers to sample the wetlands without damaging the ecosystem with foot traffic.

Shoreline Environmental Research Facility (SERF) • The Shoreline Environmental Research Facility has been established in an attempt to answer questions about the identification, effectiveness, and appropriate use of chemical and biological oil-spill response agents. This is done by using wave tanks to simulate the various types of waves and shoreline environments.

Division of Nearshore Research (DNR) • The Division of Nearshore Research (DNR) is part of the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. • DNR activities include: collection of real-time water level, wind speed, and other environmental data from stations placed in the bays and estuaries along the Texas coast. Some of the projects are: Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network (TCOON), Port of Corpus Christi Real-Time Navigation System, Freeport Flowinfo, Nueces Bay Salinity Monitoring, Oso Creek Dissolved Oxygen, Wind-info, and Contaminants from South Texas Uranium Mines.
