  3. Administration’s Position Administration likes the idea of CTs • Patient information available quickly • Reduces/eliminates clerical labor costs

  4. Doctor’s Position Doctor’s don’t like CTs • Long clinic days • Mountains of paper work • “I didn’t go to medical school to be a stenographer.”

  5. Doctor’s Concerns • It will take longer to type my reports. • I won’t be able to personalize my reports • It’s distracting to type in front of patients

  8. Method-Email Survey • Before/after training • Sent to 360 HealthPartners doctors • 109 responses, 30% • Training pushed back to 2005/2006 - 31 doctors before/after survey

  9. Before/After Comparison • Small, but representative sample • Before training - 19/31 responses or 61% • After training - 12/31 responses or 39%

  10. Results There was a shift towards acceptance of charting tools after training/use.
