  2. June 21st is the longest day of the year and the day is also known as summer solstice. • Summer solstice means longest Day of the summer season. • Since the earth rotate on the axis , the north of the equator receives more direct sun light.

  3. When is the longest day of the year • The longest day of the year will take place today on June 21st Friday. • The summer solstice will give Britons a whole 16 hours and 38 minutes of day light. • On this day sun will rise 4:42 am and set at 21:21 pm.

When do the days start shortening • The days will start shortening from Friday June 21st • The days will continue to shorten until Friday, December 21st, when the winter solstice officially begin. • The winter solstice will see the longest night and shortest day of the year northern Hemisphere.

Why do we have summer solstice • In summer days fell longer, because the sun rises earlier in the Morning and sets later at night. • When the north pole of the Earth is tilted toward the sun, people in the Northern Hemisphere receive more sunlight. • The day the Earth’s North Pole is tilted closest to the sun is called summer solstice. • So between March and September, Earth’s Northern Hemisphere gets more exposure to direct sunlight over the course the course of a day.

The rest of the year, Southern Hemisphere gets more and will have summer Solstice when people in the Northern Hemisphere have Winter Solstice. • In the Northern Hemisphere, peak sunlight usually occurs on June 20, 21 or 22 of any given year. • By contrast the Southern Hemisphere reaches peak sunlight on December 21, 22 or 23.
