  2. Goal Setting Form • Due October 1st • Needs to be based on Self Assessment • Needs to be of high-quality • Needs to be about what students learn and how you teach

Objectives of presentation • Teachers will reflect on student learning concerns and professional practice concerns • Teachers will determine an area of focus for goals • Teachers will familiarize themselves and differentiate between SMART Goals and not-so smart goals • Teachers will develop a SMART Goal for Student Learning • Teachers will develop a SMART Goal for Professional Practice

  4. Familiarize yourself in what it means for a goal to be SMART • S = Specific and Strategic • M = Measurable • A = Action Oriented • R = Rigorous, Realistic, and Results Focused (the 3 Rs) • T = Timed and Tracked • Review handout

  5. Part 1: Analysis of Student Learning, Growth, and Achievement • Review areas of concern from Part I of Self Assessment and identify one area you would like to/need to address

From Example 1 • “When I reviewed the data I have about my prior years’ students, I noted the following weaker areas of knowledge, skills or outcomes among my students”: • On the section of the end of course assessment that asked questions related to safety and employability, my students did not do so well; 50% of them did not get more than half of these questions correct. • The teacher./department in example one will focus on end of course assessment.

From Example 1 • “When I thought about my own professional practice (how I currently do all the parts of my job) and compared this with the Standards that make up our Teacher Rubric, I note the following areas in which I can grow professionally”: (a bulleted list is fine.) • I have not begun to use the Common Core Literacy Standards for technical programs.I-A-3 • The teacher/department in Example 1 will focus on Common Core Literacy Standards.

  15. Closing • Be sure to share all information on Teach Point • If you are working on Team Goals, all members of the team should have the same goal in their Goal Setting Form and the whole team must work together to develop the Educator Plan. • Good luck
