“ShredEX” • Transition Skills Training Program • Simulates an authentic work setting • Helps students develop important work place skills to be successful in adulthood “The transition service requirement of IDEA 2004 recognize that education can improve the post-school outcomes of students with disabilities by doing a better job of preparing students for the complexities of the adult world” PA Department of Education
Keystone Readiness CLASSROOM DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS (CDT) • Is a set of online assessments, divided by content area, designed to provide diagnostic information in order to guide instruction and remediation. • Assists educators in identifying student academic strengths, and areas in need of improvement, by providing links to classroom resources. • The CDT reporting system is fully integrated in the Standards Aligned System (SAS) through PDE.
CLASSROOM DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS (CDT) • Consists of multiple‐choice questions. • Based on content assessed by the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSA) and the Keystone Exams. • Includes interactive and dynamic reporting for various diagnostic reporting categories.

What is the Process? • Master Schedule is a 5 step process • CSG is the First Step • Spring of previous year- student interest • Teacher /Admin analysis • Student surveys • Networking with other districts • LEA /BAC information • Fall of Current year- teacher collaboration • Building Department meetings/6-12 meetings • State Requirements- PSSA to Keystones/Special education • New pilots • Edits and Revisions and technology
…Process continued • Fall of Current year • Review suggestions-Department chairs, Supervisors and Administration • Building Administrators meet with central Administration • Presentation to the School Board for approval • CSG book updated and sent to printer • Prepare for Phase II: Tally Collection
Proposed Pilot: Mathematics • AP Computer Programming • Advanced level course in computer science field • Focus on Java programming language • College credit through the AP exam • Prerequisites: Introduction to Programming and Algebra/Trig • 1.0 credit
Proposed Pilot: Mathematics • Linear Algebra • College level linear algebra course • Students interested in engineering would benefit from this course • Course will receive AP weighting for the GPA • Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus for AP Prep • 1.0 credit • 2014-2015 Math Sequencing Chart
Proposed Pilot: Science • Biology Keystone Workshop • Remediation course for students who have not shown proficiency on the Keystone Exam • State requirement for remediation • Taken prior to the retest in Biology • Focus on topics included in both modules of the exam • .5 credit
Proposed Changes to Science Sequence Recommendation: To increase the number of students who will be exposed to Biology in grade 9, giving students the opportunity to select from a variety of high level science courses as junior and seniors. It is recommended that 8th grade students who have completed Algebra & General Science be scheduled for Biology in Grade 9.
Proposed Pilot: Social Studies: • Selection Process • Reviewed offerings of 20 high schools • Teachers poled to select 2 courses to pilot • 450 students surveyed spring 2013- asked to select 3 courses from the teachers list • Data analyzed- 4 courses of interest emerged
Proposed Pilot: Social Studies • Sociology: The Evolution of U.S. Society through Sports • Examines the role, purpose and value of sports in history • Focus on the relationship of sports to the political, economic, and cultural institutions and value of society • Use of primary and secondary sources • .5 elective credit
Edits and Changes • Art: Increase in materials fees • Delaware County Technical School: Add – Dental Technology Eliminate – Pre Engineering • Study of the current class rank and GPA system • LEA format involving stakeholders to collect data and make recommendation • Committee to include school board members, administrators, teachers, parents and students.
AP Exam Scores • AP Exam scores are a weighted combination of student scores on the multiple-choice and free-response sections. The final score is on a five-point scale:
AP Course Update • 17 AP Course Exams offered • 269 students were administered at least one AP exam
