Jim has forty-five years experience as a mechanical engineer; thirty years as a consulting engineer and fifteen years in the industry areas of field and test engineering, plant and facilities engineering and management, and mechanical systems design. Example: FOR THE ORIGINAL HISTORY AND FOR EACH YEAR OF CHAPTER Chapter History Northwest Florida 1978 - 2007 The Constitution of the Northwest Florida Chapter of A.S.H.R.A.E. was approved by the National organization on November1, 1977. Bruno Morabito, President of A.S.H.R.A.E., chartered the Chapter the night of April 1, 1978. A.S.”Red” Goodwinwas elected by unanimous vote to serve as President of the Chapter during the trying period of Chapter organization.…........................... ……………………………………………………………………………………………. Bobby Marcus,2006-2007,has completed a second successful year as president of the chapter. Bobby worked closely with Glenn Langan, Program Chairman, to promote chapter growth by offering successful chapter meetings through engineering excellence. programs The chapter was recognized with PAOE award – Research Promotion Highest Pts.- Chapter Operations Award Highest Pts.- Chapter Technology Highest Pts.- Student Activities Highest Pts. & History Highest Pts. The chapter also received a gold ribbon in history. Currently Bobby continues to provide the chapter newsletter and the promotion of the up coming chapter golf tournament. Through Bobby’s leadership and working closely with Tracy Bice, CTTC & Chapter Golf Event Chairman, the 2005-2006 golf event was the most successful golf event the chapter has had.

  12. Example: LEADERSHIP RECALL INTERVIEW Robert B. Stotz, age 84, known to ASHRAE members of Northwest Florida as Bert, is a charter member of the Northwest Florida club, which began April, 1978. Bert’s primary positions in the club have included program chairman and refrigeration committee chairman. Not as an officer, but as a concerned member who recognized the value of the club, he worked together with Al Barfield in the mid 80’s to help reorganize the club to prevent its disbanding—a significant event in the chapter’s history. …………………………………………… The Northwest Florida Chapter of ASHRAE counts it as an honor to have Robert Bert Stotz as an active participating member. With Bert’s willingness to share what has worked and what has not worked in the field of mechanical engineering, the engineering community has benefited and will continue to benefit from his contribution.

  18. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Recognizes the vital role historians play in identifying and preserving the accomplishments of its members and the industry. • Recognizes the most outstanding history on projects or persons.

  19. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Presented annually at the Society’s Annual Meeting. • Recipient is selected from nominations submitted to and judged by the Historical Committee. • One nomination is submitted yearly from each Region. • Nominations must be received at ASHRAE Headquarters by Dec. 1st.

  20. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Judging Criteria: Historical Significance 35 points Innovation 20 points Photographs 20 points Quality of Presentation 15 points Gold Ribbon Award Recipient 10 points

  21. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Historical Significance: • History of a person, object created or invented • Significant contribution to the progress of HVAC&R industry • Of historical value NOTE: Submittal should address the project’s (person’s) significance in the history of HVAC&R.

  22. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Innovation: • Show efforts to locate & identify the information gathering process • Project should describe the facts pertaining to the article

LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Photographs or duplicates of photos: • Encourage to utilize photos or illustrations in the submittal • Illustrations and photos should enhance the presentation • All photos should be identified (who, what, when, where and why) • NOTE: Do not submit original photographs.

  24. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Quality of Presentation: • Logical presentation with good features clearly highlighted • Simple to read system schematics or charts • Easy-to-follow series of photos • Concise and effective presentation • Significance in HVAC&R history

  25. LOU FLAGG HISTORICAL AWARD • Chapter “Gold Ribbon” Award Recipient: • Society encourages active participation at all levels • Entrant must be a winner of a chapter “Gold Ribbon Award” • Provide a notice or documentation from Society where a scaled back copy of topic is stored
