  1. Turnitin in BUMoodle - Quick Reference Guide for Staff(This quick guide is a modified version of the one prepared by ITO/ITSC.) TurnitinStandard online service for plagiarism preventionCapable for integration with Moodle platformScenario Teacher creates a Turnitin assignment in BUMoodle. The assignment is created in Turnitin’s server automatically as well. Student submits the assignment (e.g. MSWord file) via BU Moodle. Turnitin performs the plagiarism checking and generates a report within 24 hours upon the submission. Teachers can view the online report for grading purpose.

  2. I. Using Turnitin in BU Moodle – Teacher How to create a Turnitin Assignment? Login bumoodle.hkbu.edu.hk with your Novell (ITSC) account. Select the course you are teaching. Click on Turn editing on Click Turn editing on

  3. Select Turnitin assignment

  4. Note: Only Teacher is able to create Turnitin assignment. Turnitin does not allow other user roles (e.g. TA) to create Turnitin assignment. Enter assignment title and description or instructions (e.g 1. Please submit your assignment in MS Word format. 2. Make sure the file size <= 10MB. Choose the start and due dates for the assignment, Click Save and return to course

  5. Select the post date, e.g. the date after the assignment due date And then, click more options to select Turnitin Assignment options

  6. Select Turnitin Assignment options: e.g Generate Originality Reports for submissions? Allow students to see Originality Reports? And then, scroll down to the bottom and click “submit” button to finish the assignment creation.

  7. Turnitin Assignment created and return to BUMoodel Scroll down and click on the course title to return to BUMoodle

  8. The Turnitin Assignment has be created. Students can click on it to submit their assignments.
