  2. INTRODUCTION • Is their hook interesting and unique? • Did they state the problem? • Do they explain how their facts relate back to their experiment? • DO THEY HAVE IN-TEXT CITATIONS? IF NOT, WHERE CAN THEY ADD THEM? • Are in-text citations in the correct format? • Did they State the Hypothesis? (If, then, because) • When you read it, does it make sense? • Are there any obvious spelling, punctuation, etc. issues?

  3. METHODS • Topic Sentence: In order to test my hypothesis, I needed to design an experiment. • Do they explain their experiment steps clearly? • Do they use transition words? NO numbered lists or bulleted lists!! • Do they explain WHY they did their experiment the way they did? • Does it make sense when you read it? • Are there any obvious spelling, punctuation, capitalization, or grammar errrors?

RESULTS • Topic Sentence: My results (did/did not) support my hypothesis. • Is data explained completely—all trials? • Do they use transition words to explain the trials of the experiment? • Does it seem complete and correct? • Is data table/graph inserted after the written information? • Does it make sense when you read it? • Are there any obvious spelling, punctuation, capitalization, or grammar errors?

CONCLUSION • Is there a TOPIC SENTENCE with atransition: “In the end, my experiment taught me much about _____.” • Do they state what ended up happening? • Do they state WHY they think it happened? • Do they talk about what could be done differently? • Do they discuss further experiments they could do or steps they would take in the future? • Do they discuss who in the world would benefit from this research?
