  5. Prerequisites • Prerequisites • Needed if not currently MSDE certified or if equivalent coursework has not previously been taken. PREREQUISITES: • Current teacher certification in Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. For students not currently certified, undergraduate coursework in: • a) Foundations and history of education, • b) Learning theory, student development, and strategies for identification of student with diverse learning needs. • c) Inclusion of special needs student populations and • d) Integration of current technologies in education. *All program prerequisites should be completed before beginning courses in the Core Professional Sequence (not necessarily so).
