  1. Answer for Q. 1 • Hospital Isolation (Recommendation to IP) • Standard precautions and droplet precautions are in place for 5 days after effective antibiotic initiation • All healthcare workers(HCW) should observe standard precautions and wear a respiratory mask when examining a patient with a cough illness suspected or confirmed to be pertussis. • Exposed, unprotected people should be given PEP promptly, and immunization when indicated. • Exclude symptomatic HCW from work for at least the first 5 days of the recommended antibiotic or 21 days from onset of cough (if object to or cannot take A/B)

Answer for Q. 1 cont. • Investigate immediately by using resources • Protocol • Pertussis WVEDSS form • OLS for laboratory testing • Verify the diagnosis • Collect clinical and laboratory information • Assure PCR and culture are tested • If not, collect NP swab or aspirate for testing at OLS • Ascertain the case (use case definition for clinical criteria) • Identify close contacts (interview guardian)
