  2. Last Week Romans 12:3 • For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

  6. Soberly This is where I get NOT too high or NOT too low • Earnest, thoughtful character • marked by temperance, moderation, or seriousness • sensible • showing no excessive or extreme qualities

  16. Purpose of the Gifts • Spiritual gifts are a way whereby God gives grace to the members of the body of Christ • In so much as Christ is the perfect embodiment of grace and truth; spiritual gifts are a way of manifesting Christ to others John 1:14

  18. 1 Peter 4:10 charisma • As every man [believer] hath received the [a] gift, • even so minister [serve] the same one to another, • as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

  20. Grace • Grace is NOT limited to salvation. • Grace is God’s disposition to exercise goodwill toward the redeemed of the Lord. • Grace is supernatural • The natural man has NO idea what grace is • He cannot comprehend grace

  23. God’s Grace • Gives the body of Christ people w/ these gifts: • Prophecy • Service • Teaching • Exhortation • Generosity • Administration (leadership) • Mercy

  24. Romans 12:6b-7 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; 1 Peter 4:11a • whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

  27. Faith is the Root and Trait of Spiritual Gifts Faith is what moves natural teaching from “teaching” that is a spiritual gift.

  28. Romans 12:8 • Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: • Come alongside • Encouragement • Urge Strongly • Language intended to incite and encourage

  29. Romans 12:8 • he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; • Simplicity • Sincere dedication to Christ • By faith in a generous way • Any other motive means Christ may be not be honored

  30. Romans 12:8 This is a body without direction, goals and vision. • he that ruleth, with diligence; • Leadership • Administration

  31. Romans 12:8 • he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. • Showing Compassion • Showing Pity • Showing Empathy • Acts of mercy, kindness and compassion

  33. Romans 10:17 Faith is a gift from God to all who believe. • So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  34. Question What do I do if I don’t think I have enough faith to exercise my spiritual gift?

  35. Luke 17:5 Follow the Disciples Example—Ask for More! • And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

  36. By Faith I believe… • There is a God • His Son is Jesus Christ • The Bible is the Word of God • I have been given a spiritual gift • This gift can be used to dispense GRACE to those who need GRACE

  37. Faith Faith is what moves any Spirit-filled, Spirit-led action to conduit of grace.

  38. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, Application What are your gifts?

  39. Application How are you committed to using that gift in the body of Christ?
