  2. How can you explain if you don’t have the words? • How do you get the words and concepts? • How can you reinforce the words and concepts? • How can you convey the concepts to others? Identity issues We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

  3. 2009: General Board adopted the identity statement produced by the 21st Century Visioning Team. • 2012: Council on Christian Unity and Communication Ministries joined to work on ways to use the identity statement more broadly. • 2013: Introduction of new materials at General Assembly in Orlando. How this came to be We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

  4. To help us have the words and concepts • Short videos on four of the key words in the identity statement – movement, wholeness, welcome, table – and a fifth “sampler” video • A discussion guide for small groups to accompany the videos. (An individual study guide will be available in August.) Materials available We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

  5. To reinforce the words and concepts • A small library of writings and resources available to assist pastors with sermon and worship preparation.
