  1. The Queen of Courage and Beauty … Perfectly Positioned People Esther 4:16c When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

  2. Brings up the question “Is LIFE JUST A ROLE OF THE DICE ???” Do we live in an out of control world … sailing on a ship with no one at the helm … at least no one who watches out for us.

  3. Remember King Nebuchadnezzar?? Daniel 4:34 At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.

  4. The Story … of Esther A Beautiful teenage Queen … who must have wondered what is going on? A courageous young woman placed in a soul shaking position. A perfectly positioned Bride although in the beginning she didn’t know what was going on!

  5. Roll of the Dice #1 The confusing rejection of a troublesome Queen … and a beauty contest for a new Queen announced. Esther 2:8 When the king’s order and edict had been proclaimed, many girls were brought to the citadel of Susa and put under the care of Hegai. Esther also was taken to the king’s palace and entrusted to Hegai, who had charge of the harem.

  6. Roll of the Dice # 2 Esther’s character and beauty win out and she is given a favored place in the Girls chamber …

  7. The Rules of the Contest Esther 2:12-14 Before a girl’s turn came to go in to King Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics. 13 And this is how she would go to the king: Anything she wanted was given her to take with her from the harem to the king’s palace. 14 In the evening she would go there and in the morning return to another part of the harem to the care of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of the concubines. She would not return to the king unless he was pleased with her and summoned her by name.

  8. When life doesn’t go as planned! • God is not stopped or absent when the events around you seem out of control. • God sovereignly is at work behind the scenes. • Don’t lose contact with who you are in God in those moments. • Hold on Esther’s God is up to something Bigger!

  9. Romans 8:28 • 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. • Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

  10. Roll of the Dice # 3 … An enemy rises up • Haman an Amalekite … a vain, deceitful and vicious man finds favor with King Xerxes and is elevated to a position second to King Xerxes. • Mordecai … won’t bow before him. • Haman literally rolls the dice to determine the day to kill the Jews. The dice come up Adar 13th (March).

  11. The Decree given at Haman’s hand Destroy all Jews everywhere throughout the entire known world and confiscate their properties. All Israel’s enemies given power to wage war on Israel with the King’s blessing. Does this sound familiar??? Pray for Israel/Stand with Israel

  12. IV. Roll of the Dice # 4 …Perfectly Positioned by God people. Esther 4:6-11 THE STORY … So Hathak went to Mordecai in the open square of the city in front of the king’s gate. Mordecai told him everything that had happened to him including the exact amount of money Haman had promised to pay into the royal treasury for the destruction of the Jews. … to show to Esther and explain it to her, and he told him to instruct her to go into the King’s presence and beg for mercy and plead with him for her people.

  13. Esther for “such a time as this” 4: 12 When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, 13 he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”

  14. V. Roll of the Dice #5 … Esther’s world changing decision … “If I die, I die!” 15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

  15. What is courage? • The bravery to set aside the “What if’s” and trust the Lord’s goodness in the midst of Righteousness. • Esther was moved by the Cause … are we? • Esther acted upon God’s promises do we?

  16. Eugene Peterson, …Courage “A realization that there is in fact, an enemy forces a reassessment of priorities… The moment Haman surfaced, Esther began to move from being a beauty Queen to becoming a Jewish saint, from being empty headed sex symbol to being a passionate intercessor, from a busy-indolent life in the harem to the high risk venture of speaking, standing up with and identifying with God’s people.”

  17. Where did Esther get her courage???? Isaiah 40:28-29 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29     He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

  18. The source of Esther’s courage She fasted and prayed …WAITED ON GOD! • In waiting we gain new strength • In waiting we get better perspective • We store up energy • We deepen our determination to preserve • Waiting is Never a Waste God guides us with His eyes as we wait on Him … Psalm 32:6-8

  19. VI. No Rolling the Dice …God at work behind the Scenes • Haman is exposed, humiliated and executed because of his evil plot to kill the Jews. • Extraordinary Favor … C. Xerxes cannot revoke his decree but he does allow Mordecai to issue a decree that the Jews can defend themselves against their enemies.

  20. Truth to act upon: • God is willing to move heaven and earth to bring His Sovereign gracious plan over and around us to fruition. 2. Satan is a tenacious enemy bent on destroying you. 3. Whether you know it or not God is at work in your life Right Now! 4. . The key to accessing His Promise is to Come boldly into His throne room through Jesus Christ the Living One …
