  2. Examples of RC Vehicles • RC Vehicles can range in size from 1/18th scale up to 1/5th scale vehicles. • Majority of vehicles are 1/10th scale. • RC vehicles can be powered by an electric motor, or gas engine. • Examples:

  3. Why build an RC Track? • A dedicated RC track does not exists within the Corvallis city area. • Driving RC vehicles in BMX parks and other public spaces can cause conflicts between users. • The lack of a dedicated RC track discourages people from entering the hobby.

  4. Proposed RC track location. Proposed location would share the same space as the current RC airfield. Blue shaded are indicates the overall proposed space. Orange is the proposed track location. Yellow is the driver stand for the track. Purple would be the work table area. Blue shaded area: 685’ x 197’ Orange track: 200’ x 110’

  6. Liability and Insurance • Insurance will be provided by ROAR through membership with ROAR. • ROAR (Remotely Operated Auto Racers) is the National non-profit corporation organized to promote the sport of radio controlled model car racing. ROAR was originally organized in 1967, and has steadily grown and evolved as the sport has grown. • ROAR individual membership provides insurance for the individual. • $1,000,000 Liability Insurance protection. • $10,000 Accident Medical Insurance. • Only $25/year for membership. • ROAR also provides insurance for the track and land owner (county). • $1,000,000 Liability Insurance coverage • Site Insurance application to add additional insured's if your track location requires it • Only $37/year for track membership.

  7. Noise Concerns • Electric RC vehicles tend to be very quiet making as much noise as a box fan. • Nitro/Gas powered RC vehicles can potentially be much louder. • ROAR rules (9.2.4.4) nitro engines cannot exceed 85 decibels at 33’. Lawnmower engines are about 90 decibels. • Most nitro engines running at 50% throttle produce about 85-100 dB at source. • Using the proposed track location. The track is approximately 100’ from the road. • To the south the distance is about 136’ to the far side of the road. To the east the distance is about 205’ to the far side of the road.
