  3. Before We Go Further… The Gift of Repentance has been given The three temptations have been defined Repentance is from God, not man Remember where you were so you appreciate where you are The Lord has even greater gifts in store for you

Haggai 2:20-22 The word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month,21 “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth, 22 and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the chariots and their riders. And the horses and their riders shall go down, every one by the sword of his brother.

  5. Shake the Heavens and Earth What God is about to Do will have World-wide Implication What God is about to do will Overthrow The Throne of Kingdoms

  6. Haggai 2:23 On that day, declares the Lord of hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, declares the Lord, and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the Lord of hosts.”

  7. On That Day…. The Scriptures state that “On the Day that He Shakes the Heavens and Earth”…. Zerubbabel will be like a signet… but no such event took place during the life of Zerubbabel Governor of Judah

  8. A Signet A Signet Ring was the Official Sign of being from a Designated Sender Seal of Approval, of one who is Highly Esteemed on whom Favor is Granted Was used to Attest the Authority of its Bearer

  9. Zerrubabel was…. Chosen to be a Signet for God…. Haggai 2:23b “and I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the Lord of hosts.”

  10. Yet…. History shows that Zerubbabel was the Immediate Heir of… Nothing

  11. Was Zerubbabel, Governor of Judah … The focus of the prophecy? No.

  12. The Prophecy Has in View… A greater and future person who is beyond Zerubbabel… but related in some way to Zerubbabel The literal Zerubbabel is used only to teach us about the greater and future person

Matt 1:13-16 and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, 14 and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, 15 and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

  14. The One in View is… A Greater Zerubbabel… who is…. CHRIST

  15. Why was Zerubbabel…. Chosen as a forefather to Joseph the husband of Mary? He was the Agent of God used to issue in the Symbolic Temple that “Housed the Glory of God” Jesus WAS the True Temple where the Glory of God truly resides

  16. Why Zerubbabel? God chose Zerubbabel as an agent for leading the people to temporal reconciliation with God Jesus, infinitely more so, is God the Father’s agent of Eternal Reconciliation

  19. What is Haggai 2:21-22 Referring To? God is promising that He will overthrow all the enemies of His People --- and that He will do so through the Greater Zerubbabel A Wonderful Promise!

  20. Both Zerubbabel and Christ… Were chosen by the Father to Reconcile the People to God…. Amidst Enemies He Ensured Victory in Both Cases

  21. Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  22. Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

  23. Romans 15:5,6 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,6 that together you may with one voice declare the glory of the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
