  2. Me = to me Te = to you Le = to him/her to you (form.) Nos = to us Les = to them/ all of you • What you and your friends like to do: Gustar = to like/be pleasing It is used with Indirect Obj. Pronouns that state to who it is pleasing

  3. (A mí) Me gusta… (A ti) Te gusta… (A él/ella/Ud.) Le gusta… (A Nosotros) Nos gusta… (A ellos/ellas/Uds.) Les gusta… I like… You like… He / she / You like(s)… We like… They / you all like…

  4. To state what each person likes to do: Me Te Le { gusta + verb infinitive Nos Les *a verb infinitive is always proceeded by the singular form of GUSTAR (gusta)

  5. To find out what friends like to do together after school and on vacation: Vocabulario: durante las vacaciones Hacer ejercicio to exercise Caminar to walk Descansar to rest Correr por la playa to run on beach Bucear (juntos) to dive (together) Nadar to swim Tomar el sol a la playa to suntan at the beach Esquiar en las montañas to ski in the mountains Practicar el esquí acuático to practice water ski

  6. Vocabulario: durante las vacaciones cont’d…. Acampar to camp Pescar en el lago to fish in the lake Montar a caballo to ride a horse Mirar la television to watch tv Montar en bici to ride a bike Bailar to dance Pasar el rato juntos to hang out together Ir al cine/centro/cafe’ to go ……

  7. Ex: Que’ les gusta hacer (a Uds.) juntos durante las vacaciones? Nos gusta hacer ejercicio al gimnasio o ir al cine juntos. Ex: Que les gusta hacer a Jose y Roberto en el tiempo libre? Les gusta esquiar? No, a ellos les gusta correr. Ex: A Uds. les gusta acampar o pescar? Nos gusta acampar durante las vacaciones.

Practice: Fill in the blank with the correct Indirect Object Pronoun: (me, te, le, nos, les) • A ti _____ gusta hacer ejercicio despues de clases. • A Josefina ____ gusta descansar en su cuarto. • A Miguel y Anita ____ gusta montar en bicicleta en el parque. • A mis amigos y yo ___ gusta bucear juntos. • A mi’ ____ gusta caminar en el sol. • A Roberto ____ gusta esquiar durante las vacaciones.

Practice: Create a sentence with the correct form of gustar along with the verb phrase to state what each person likes/dislikes to do on vacation: Que’ le gusta hacer durante las vacaciones? • A mi / nadar / en la piscina • A Pedro / pescar / con su padre / al lago • A mi familia y yo / acampar / juntos • A los chicos / bucear / en el lago • A Ana y Paulina / tomar el sol / a la playa • A mi amigo mejor / practicar / el esqui’ acuatico

  11. Practice: Answer the following questions using cues in parenthesis: • Que les gusta hacer a Uds.? (dive in the lake) • Que les gusta hacer a Ana y Juan? (camp in the mountains together) • Que te gusta hacer durante las vacaciones? (ski) • Que le gusta hacer a Pedro? (fish)

  12. Practice: Based on where each person is going, state what each person likes to do on vacation: Que les gusta hacer? Yo voy a la piscina. = Me gusta nadar. • Yo voy al lago siempre con mi familia. • Cristina va al gimnasio. • Los chicos van a la playa juntos. • Nosotros vamos a las montañas. • Juan va al parque por la tarde.

  13. Practice: Using a Venn Diagram, write 5 sentences or more with a partner and list what activities you and your friends/family members like/dislike to do on vacation and in your free time. In the middle, write in complete sentences what you both have in common. ex: Nos gusta bucear. A nuestros amigos les gusta pescar. A nuestra madre/nuestro padre le gusta descansar.

  14. Practice: Translate the following into Spanish: • Linda and Laura like to suntan together at the beach. • Pedro likes to scuba dive in the lake on vacation. • I like to ski with my family. • Isabella likes to run in the park. • My friends and I like to do exercises together.
