  3. Socrative …Simple & Smart • A student response system that empowers teachers to engage their classrooms through a series of educational exercises and games via smart phones, laptops, and tablets (iPads)

  4. Socrative …Engaging • Teachers login through their device (iPad or computer) and select an activity which controls the flow of questions and games. • Students simply login with their device and interact real-time with the content.

  5. Socrative …Assessment • Student responses are visually represented for multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions. • For pre-planned activities a teacher can view reports online as a Google spreadsheet or as an emailed Excel file.

Real-Time Formative Assessment • Take a snapshot of student thinking through real-time formative assessment. • It’s super easy to gather responses and get whole class participation. • Just choose your question type, ask a question, and wait for responses. • Single Question Activities • Multiple Choice • True/False • Short Answer

  9. Real-Time Formative Assessment • Multiple Choice • Present students with a multiple choice question and see the results populate the bar chart as students select their answer

  13. Real-Time Formative Assessment • Short Answer • Gather open-ended responses to any question you ask. • Instantly project the student responses and then let students vote on the content.

  16. Quiz- Based Activities • Design your own evaluation exercises in minutes by importing questions or inputting them on the website or directly in the app. • Socrative will save them in your account so you can access them anytime.

  17. Quiz- Based Activities • Auto-Graded • Once the exercises are completed, you’ll receive an aggregated report. • Multiple choice quizzes will be graded for you.  • Question Variety • Questions can be multiple choice, short answer, or a combination of the two.

Games • Engage your students in fun exercises that track their performance while they’re playing. • Enjoy the energy of the moment and get the results sent to you by email. • Space Race • Teams of students answer questions in this fast-paced rocket race game. • The team(s) that get their rocket the furthest across the screen wins!

  20. Sample Space Race • Each table will be a team • We’ll watch the ‘Digital Animation’ BrainPOP movie • Each team will then ‘race’ to complete the quiz using the Socrative app • The winning team will receive a coveted prize!

  21. Work time! • Create a Socrative account • Record info on the back of your packet • Create at least one quiz! • Directions on page 2 of packet • Use one of your own • Use sample quizzes in the room

Create/Edit a Quiz • Give your quiz a title so you can find it. • Students won’t see this. • Enable sharing. • You can share the quiz by giving other teachers the ‘SOC Number’ • My first Georgia quiz = SOC-3409862 • My second Georgia quiz = SOC-3409873 • Add a multiple choice question • Enter the question and answer choices • Click on the checkbox to select correct answers – you can choose more than one. • If no correct answers are chosen, the student is thanked for their response after answering. • Add a short answer question. • You can reorder or delete the questions using the controls on the upper-right part of the question. • Click ‘Save’ when you are done with your quiz. • You can come back and edit the quiz at any time.

  23. Exit Ticket • Check in on your students’ understanding as they head out the door. • Gather responses on their comfort with the material as well as answers to questions you create in real-time or prepare before class.
