  1. English 10 - 10/10/11 • What issue do you think would be interesting to debate? Why? • Did you hear about the psychic midget that escaped from prison? The police are looking for a small medium at large. • Logomachy – a dispute about words and their meanings Goals – Prepare debate and set standards for documenting research. Homework – Find and annotate at least one article for your debate.

English 10 - 10/11/11 • What motivates people to do the right thing? • How many magicians does it take to change a light bulb? • Logogogue – a person who always corrects people on words and their use. Goals – Prepare debate and set standards for documenting research. Homework – Find and annotate at least one article for your debate.

  3. English 10 - 10/12/11 • Why is being honest important? • What do you do with two pieces of bread in the desert? • Lethologica – the temporary inability to recall a word or name. Goals – Analyze research sources and getting more notes. Homework – Finish research and notes for debate. Make sure to have both pros and cons.

  4. English 10 - 10/13/11 • In the role of your “persona”, why is this issue so crucial for the American public to understand? • What did one sheep say to the other when it sneezed? • Idioglossia – the invented speech of children who are closely related, used for private conversation. Goals – Focus on your persona and what they think of your issue; not your personal beliefs. Continue research.Don’tforget to study Vocabulary # 7 for quiz tomorrow. Homework – Prepare for your debate role in writing or outline for tomorrow.

English 10 - 10/14/11 • Five minutes to study for Quiz #7. • Why did the twin elephants get kicked off the beach? • Escape words – words used in place of those that might be considered sacrilegious or obscene. E.g. golly, gosh. Goals – Complete Week 7 vocabulary study. Poem of the week! Discuss debate rules and scoring. Homework – Be ready to combine your role in the debate with team mates for Monday.
