Awareness Actions at Haz Mat Incidents • Consider wind direction and terrain. • Implement the IMS. • Use the ERG. • Isolate and evacuate the area. • Call for additional assistance. • Avoid physical contact with the material. • Wear appropriate PPE. • Eliminate ignition sources.   12. WARNING The Institute of Makers of Explosives and DOT recommend that first responders not make an attack on fires involving explosives. Instead, they should withdraw and let the fire burn. Supplementary Lesson
