Economics is a MUSTfor those students considering applying for Oxford or Cambridge University. • Assessment for economics is 100% exam. • Topics include: Markets and Market Failure, National Economy and Business Economics. • Progression: Banking, Finance, Law, Accountancy, Economist

Key facts • Worth up to 360 ucas points (3 A levels) • Full-time over 2 years • Alternate weeks in school and placement • Assessed through coursework, exam and research project • University pathways – teaching, nursing, midwifery, childhood studies, youth work, social work • Vocational pathways – Nursery nurse, nanny, crèche worker, teaching assistant, special needs carer.

  11. ICT BTEC, A-Level, Computing

  12. BTEC ICT Level 3 The course is made up of 2 compulsory units and all work assessed is Coursework. Unit 1: Communication and Employability Skills for IT - This unit will introduce students to the skills and attributes that are valued by employers in the IT industry and ask them to demonstrate their IT skills in an industry context. Unit 2: Computer Systems - This unit will give the students an introduction to the components that make up computer systems covering the theory of how systems work and they will also be expected to set up and maintain a computer system. Four additional units are chosen looking at the strengths and interests of the class consisting of anything from Computer Networks, Technical Support , Programming to Developing Computer Games. Where can BTEC ICT take you? This qualification provides progression opportunities to higher education, degree and professional development programmes. 

  13. A-Level ICT What is A-Level ICT? This is a traditional A level that combines practical use of ICT with the theory that is required for progression into the industry to continue to use ICT effectively and safely. The students study legal aspects of ICT, keeping data secure and working in the ICT industry as well as undertaking real life projects, sitting formal exams and completing coursework. • This qualification is accepted at most top universities as a sound based for ICT based subjects such as games design, computing and including any subject that is to be studied.   14. A-Level Computing What is A-Level Computing? This is a traditional A level, aimed at students who want to go on and study aspects of computer studies such as robotics and game creation. The students study the theory of programming as well as how computers work. They will also study programming and will complete projects to produce programs with a commercial target. Students who study and do well in this subject will have the chance to attend any university or to find a rewarding job in the computing industry. Where can Computing take you?

  17. BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Travel and Tourism • This qualification is equivalent to one A Level. • The course is made up entirely of coursework which is graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction. • Students work on assignments to complete evidence for each of the units.

  26. What is an apprenticeship? • An Apprenticeship is a real job with training so you can earn while you learn and pick up recognised qualifications as you go. If you live in England, are over 16 and not in full time education you can apply. They take between one and four years to complete.
