  2. About The Spirit Squad • Who can join? • Any student in 4th-8thGrade • 4th& 5th graders – Jr. Varsity Squad • 6th-8th graders – Varsity Squad • What is it? • Performance-based team preparing students for a future in cheer & dance

  3. Spirit Squad Contract • Qualifications for all Spirit Squad Members • Must be in grades 4th -8th here at OPA. • Must attend ALL practices unless excused by coaches one hour in advance. • Shall maintain at least a “B” (3.0/Proficient) average in all academic subjects. • Shall maintain at least an “A” or “B” in classroom and playground behavior. • Shall maintain at least an “A” or “B” in Homework.

  4. Cheer Squad • What will my student learn on cheer? • OPA Fight Song routine • Motion technique • Performance skills • Cheer routines • Stunting

  5. Dance Squad • What will my student learn on dance? • Jazz technique • Performance skills • Dance combinations • Cheer routines

  6. Practices Every Tuesday, Wednesday, &Thursday 7:00-7:45am Honour Hall Cheer: Work-out clothing & tennis shoes Dance: Work-out clothing & jazz shoes

  7. Where will we perform?? • Morning Assemblies • Jingle Jam • Chino Parade • Open House • OPA’s Sports Games

  8. Uniform Fittings • Mandatory Uniform Fitting • Tuesday, September 24th 2013 @ TBA • Please wear tight fitting clothes in order to make sure the uniforms fit correctly.

  9. Optional Competition Team • Try-outs • Wednesday, September 25th 7:00-7:45am (learn routine) • Thursday, September 26th 7:00-7:45am (try-out) • We will be looking for: • Jazz technique • Performance ability • Costumes are included in the payment. • Please refer to the Competition Team Payment sheet for more details.
