  6. AGENDA ABOUT RBCT EMPOWERMENT AND TRANSFORMATION TERMINAL CAPACITY STAKEHOLDERS SAFETY , ENVIRONMENT AND CSI POTENTIAL FUTURE EXPANSION

  7. EMPOWERMENT • RBCT is currently 21.58% black owned with Black women owning 2.81% • All miners, need to meet the mining charter empowerment criteria of empowerment ownership of 26% by 2014. This will directly filter through to RBCT. • Quattro 4 Mt is currently allocated to 23 Junior Miners. DMR oversees the allocation process; empowerment is one of the significant qualification criteria.

  10. TERMINAL CAPACITY AT 91 MTPA Phase 1 12Mt Phase 2 24Mt Phase 3 44Mt Phase 3+ 63Mt Brownfields 72Mt Phase 5 91Mt RCT

  11. RBCT PHASE V EXPANSION • RBCT has a capacity of 91mtpa, with the following breakdown of shareholding:- • At 76mt capacity: • 4mt capacity allocation for Junior Miners was made available and administered by the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) for allocation to emerging miners • At 91 Mt capacity in 2005: • 15mt capacity at an investment of R1.6bn investment by Phase V empowerment emerging black export miners for shareholding and entitlement. This figure includes the 3mtpa allocated to Eskom

  16. EXPORT TONNAGE

  17. TONNAGE DELIVERED TO RBCT BY TFR There is a 25% improvement in the TTT

  18. BASKET OF ISSUES IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN • Planning at mine with logistics in mind • Life of mine linked to capacity ramp up for port and rail • Mine capacity and tempo to load trains and availability • Optimizing efficiencies and capacity utilization • Mine and rail • Rail and port • Visibility of information • Alignment of shifts • Joint planning of operations • Communication processes

  19. BASKET OF ISSUES IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN • Alignment of capital investments for future growth • Alignment of operational investments for efficiency • Key Performance indicators • Service Level Agreements • Offloading at port and capacity alignment • Stockpile management • Shipping schedules and marine operations

  20. AGENDA ABOUT RBCT EMPOWERMENT AND TRANSFORMATION TERMINAL CAPACITY STAKEHOLDERS SAFETY , ENVIRONMENT AND CSI POTENTIAL FUTURE EXPANSION

  21. RBCT SAFETY • Achieved 3 Million LTI-Free Man-hours on 23 December 2013 • Have worked up-to 42 days without any injury • Safety improvement plans in place for 2014 • Eliminating safety incidents and high risks – will translate into zero injuries • “At RBCT, we do not engage in any activity unless it can be done safely”

  22. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT Sprinkler Rain guns ESUP dams

  23. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

  24. AGENDA ABOUT RBCT EMPOWERMENT AND TRANSFORMATION TERMINAL CAPACITY STAKEHOLDERS SAFETY , ENVIRONMENT AND CSI POTENTIAL FUTURE EXPANSION

  25. PHASE VI EXPANSION TO RBCT • Expansion from current 91 m/ton p.a to 110 m/ton p.a • Infrastructure requirements (Based on initial planning) • Additional Tippler • Extension of existing stockyard area • Additional Ship loader • Associated conveyors, towers and silos • Substation reconfiguration • Provide export access to meet aspirant coal exporters requirements, while getting the advantage of efficiencies of a bulk handling facility

  26. BENEFITS – PHASE VI EXPANSION TO RBCT • Synergy for TFR – retention of the existing main line and existing infrastructure • Synergy for TNPA – use of the existing and available 2 berths and existing infrastructure • RBCT • Brownfield's expansion, lower cost of expansion • Optimise existing footprint • Proven efficiency • Low throughput cost to users • Value Chain • Further optimise usage of existing berths and rail infrastructure • A less complicated dry bulk terminal • Optimise direct rail route into South Dunes Area • Bulk handling allows optimising of rates through efficiencies • Maintain turnaround times on vessels through use of high throughput loaders

  27. RBCT PHASE VI EXPANSION - STATUS • RBCT Board and shareholders in response to the call for more capacity allocation for junior miners is exploring the phase VI option and offering a partnership with government through Transnet to provide an additional 19mtpa coal export capacity through the Richards Bay Coal Terminal through the main coal line. • Preliminary research work has been done on the Terminal Capacity plans for Phase VI expansion which would increase current capacity of 91mtpa to 110mtpa. • Potential equipment and capacity requirements for this expansion have been established through the research work.
