  3. Serving One Purpose • I Corinthians 10:31 • So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. • I Peter 4:11 • If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

  5. There are five key ways in which we bring glory to God. • We bring glory to God by worshiping him. • 1 Corinthians 10:31 • We bring glory to God by loving other believers. • 1 John 3:14 • We bring glory to God by becoming like Christ. • 2 Corinthians 3:18, NLT • We bring glory to God by serving others with our gifts. • 1 Peter 4:10-11, NLT • We bring glory to God by telling others about him. • 2 Corinthians 4:15, NLT

  6. God’s Glory Is Our Goal • The highest purpose and privilege of God’s people has always been to bring glory to Him by their obedience • Deuteronomy 4:5-8 • A failure to glorify God is a part of the very essence of sin • Romans 1:21 • Jesus’ only purpose was to glorify His Father, even by His death • John 12:27, 28 • John 17:1-2 • Like Him, our highest aim must be to glorify God, whether by life or by death – remember: “glorify” means to demonstrate the character and presence of God in our lives. • Philippians 1:20, 21

  7. Doing Everything To God’s Glory • As Christians, we should do whatever we do in such a way that God is glorified • 1 Peter 4:10, 11 • 1 Corinthians 10:31 • In obedience, our goal is not self-centered, but God-centered • 2 Corinthians 9:12, 13

  8. Doing Everything To God’s Glory • Even our assemblies are to be such that the outsider “will worship God and report that God is truly among you” • 1 Corinthians 14:25 • You MUST come to worship with • An open HEART • A HOLY SPIRIT focus • A real HUNGER and thirst • A true HOPE
