  3. Information Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. Either rose from the sea foam upon a shell, or is the Daughter of Zeus and Dione Married to Hephaestus, who was cast out of Olympus for being too ugly, so she is unhappy in her marriage. She is said to have preferred Ares over her husband. Supposedly offers Helen of Troy to Paris, which causes him to abduct her and cause the Trojan War.

Basic Information • God of light, music, arts, knowledge, healing, plague and darkness, prophecy, poetry, purity, manly beauty, and enlightenment. • He is the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis. • Some of his flaws are that he could be cruel and destructive, and his love affairs were rarely happy. • Apollo aided Paris in the killing of Achilles by guiding the arrow of his bow into Achilles' heel. • At drinking parties Apollo would play the Lyre which was given to him by given to him by Hermes.

Ares • Greek God of War • One of the Twelve Olympians • Described as a bloodthirsty killer • Thought to be the only legal son of Zeus and Hera • Father showed a disliking for him because of his anger • Didn’t get along with other Gods or Goddesses due to his hostile nature • Fought on the Trojan side during the Trojan War • Wounded by Diomedes • Had many loves affairs • Aphrodite; husband (Hephaistos) caught them and has them ridiculed in front of the Olympians • First God tried for murder after killing Poseidon's son, Alirrothios, to avenge his daughter, Alkippe’s, rape

Atemis/Diana • Family: twin brother of Apollo and Daughter of Zeus and Leto • Goddess of hunting and the moon • Relationship status: permanently single and recruits virgin female girls • Hates: boys and men • Flaws: impulsive, vengeful, pitiless, and aloof • Fact: after her birth she helped deliver her twin brother

Who Is Dionysus? • God Of The Grape Harvest/Wine • Parents: Zeus and Semele • Siblings: Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hebe, Hermes, Heracles, Hephaestus, Perseus, Minos • Issues: Hera put Dionysus into a state of madness and also ordered the titans to kill him • Cool Fact: Dionysus has the ability to take dead people out of the underworld • Flaws: He doesn’t think things through and he can go into an uncontrollable rage

Dionysus/ Bacchus • Dionysus was the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness and ecstasy. • His father was Zeus and mother was a mortal woman named Semele but he was later raised by nymphs • His mother was killed by Zeus and was then born from Zeus's thigh • He is included in some lists of the twelve Olympians • It is also said that he could be the son of Zeus and Persephone

God of Fire, Metalworking, Stone, and Art of Sculpture • Hephaestus was the black smith of the Gods. • Had his own palace on Olympus • Hephaestus crafted much of the equipment of the gods. • He designed Hermes winged helmet and sandals • Hephaestus also built automatons of metal to work for him. • This included tripods that walked to and from Mount Olympus • Prometheus stole the fire that he gave to man from Hephaestus's forge. • Hephaestus created the woman Pandora and her pithos. • Hephaestus created all the thrones in the Palace of Olympus. • Hera gave birth to Hephaestus as revenge at Zeus for his asexual birthing of Athena • She bore Hephaestus alone • Hera expelled Hephaestus from the heavens because he was "shrivelled of foot". • He fell into the ocean to be raised by Thetis • Hephaestus tried to rescue his mother from Zeus • He was thrown down from the heavens by Zeus. • He fell for a day and landed on the island of Lemnos • In Lemnos he was cared for and taught to be a master craftsman by the Sintians • Hephaestus was the only Olympian to have returned to Olympus after being banished.

  49. God of the sea. Also called the “earth-shaker” Parents- Cronus and Rhea Was swallowed by Cronus but later saved by Zues. Had a competition with Athena. He lost to her and she became the goddess of Athens. He became very angry and depressed. Said to have many lovers of both sexes.
