SIR OBJECTIVES • Students will be able to practice interviewing skills with assistance from local employers and ISU Career Center staff • Students will be able to interact and learn from their peers in a group interviewing setting • Students will experience a variety of different interviewing styles through employer group rotation • Students will have the opportunity to enhance networking skills through interactions with employers

  3. SIR AGENDA • Three times a semester; Two hour program • Welcome, Purpose of SIR, & Introduction of Volunteers (5min) • Three, 30 minute interviews • Two, 10 minute breaks • Evaluations from employers and students • Resource Table

Thirteen out of the18 (or 72%) interviewers who attended from all three of the evenings responded to this question. Question #7: Any comments/suggestions regarding the administration of the program? This does not reflective the views of all the employers.

Sample comments for each category are as follows: Overall: -The program was organized well and moved smoothly -The program was quite successful -I think it’s a good thing to attend -Seemed to be useful *A total of 19 students answered question #7. Their positive comments all dealt with the SIR program as whole (overall) , which totaled a 100% .

Sample comments for each category are as follows: Organization: -Let employers sit and allow students to choose who they want to go to -I think the administers could group people with others in their majors Marketing: -In flyers or confirmation message add a brief description of what will happen at the event -I think you should make people more aware of it Timing: - Did not start on time Interview Questions: -Questions more suitable for my major

Sample comments for each category are as follows: Overall: -I liked the different aspects and perspectives of the employers -A lot of great information; a great experience Student Improvement: -Thought it was a great way to improve my interviewing skill and was enjoyable -Getting to hear other answers gave a good idea of what to say

Sample comments for each category are as follows: Organization: -Smaller groups if possible -Get some aviation guest if possible -If possible do some one-on-one interviews Timing: -Please give a 1 minute warning announcing that the sessions will restart

CHANGES FOR THE FUTURE • Adjustments -1 min warning during breaks informing that the next session will start -Incorporate more marketing strategies -Outreach to more employers -Announce practice interviews available at Career Center • Possible Program Additions -Pre-Session on topics of pre, during and post interview phases -Post employers names and companies on info sheets and signs -Along with general questions, employers are invited to bring their own -New evaluations
