  1. Gelert Brief The story of Gelert is about a dog, a courageous hunting dog belonged to a prince called Lwelleyn, however the Dog Gelert is killed for no purpose and there is a unusual twist, this story also recoils in history its a legend that this story even exists, but there is a grave of Gelert in Gwynedd.

  2. Gelert Summary The story of Gelert starts in a castle deep in the rugged mountains of Eyrie, in the country of Gwynedd. In the castle deep lives a well respected prince called Lwelleyn. The prince Lwelleyn, is a hunter and loves to hunt with his fearless hound Gelert. Gelert accompanies Lwelleyn everywhere. Most of the times Gelert is the head of the pack, nothing is to fierce nor to strong for Gelert, his potential had no bounds, he was the most respected dog in the country of Gwynedd. The prince Lwelleyn had a son, a baby. Which has been passed to him from his wife that had recently died, her last words were to cherish the boy.

  3. Gelert summary page 2 However one day, Lwelleyn was to go hunting and put Gelert in charge of defending his son. This was the first time Lwelleyn had made Gelert stay back from hunting along his side, so that Gelert could protect the baby, however after Lwelleyn had come back he was victorious and at the same time exhausted, as he entered the room of his baby he had seen a horrendous sight gore was dripping from Gelert teeth, and their was a over toppled swaddle with blood stained all over the blanket, in despair and aggression he swiped his sword through Gelerts body, he then went across the room and had seen his baby on the floor not a single scratch on his body but beside him a dead wolf.

  4. Gelerts Grave Gelerts body was buried outside the castle walls, by the river. The huge stone slab, inscribed with Gelerts name in bold, still marks the grave and the village nearby still carries the name “beddgelert” – Gelerts grave.

  5. According to legend, the stone monument in the field marks the resting place of 'Gelert', the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great. On the stone slab it says:IN THE 13TH CENTURY, LLYWELYN, PRINCE OF NORTH WALES, HAD A PALACE AT BEDDGELERT. ONE DAY HE WENT HUNTING WITHOUT GELERT "THE FAITHFUL HOUND" WHO WAS UNACCOUNTABLY ABSENT. ON LLYWELYN'S RETURN, THE TRUANT STAINED AND SMEARED WITH BLOOD, JOYFULLY SPRANG TO MEET HIS MASTER. THE PRINCE ALARMED HASTENED TO FIND HIS SON, AND SAW THE INFANT'S COT EMPTY, THE BEDCLOTHES AND FLOOR COVERED WITH BLOOD. THE FRANTIC FATHER PLUNGED THE SWORD INTO THE HOUND'S SIDE THINKING IT HAD KILLED HIS HEIR. THE DOG'S DYING YELL WAS ANSWERED BY A CHILD'S CRY. LLYWELYN SEARCHED AND DISCOVERED HIS BOY UNHARMED BUT NEAR BY LAY THE BODY OF A MIGHTY WOLF WHICH GELERT HAD SLAIN, THE PRINCE FILLED WITH REMORSE IS SAID NEVER TO HAVE SMILED AGAIN. HE BURIED GELERT HERE. THE SPOT IS CALLED BEDDGELERT.
