At Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN…. “The older patients are often drawn to computerized music-making programs such as “Garage Band” on her laptop.“ “But sometimes, what is needed most by a patient is a calming tune sung to them.“

  5. Some feedback from the kids….. “When she asked me if I wanted to make some music, I figured 'why not,'” Aaron said. I started listening to the sounds I could pick from and started making the beats. It's a fun thing to pass the time, and I think other kids would like it.”

Innovations contd. • Brainfingers - new MIDI software • Drake Music Project in London • students with cerebral palsy, including some as young as 11, wear a Cyberlink headband which detects electrical signals from facial and eye movements and even brainwaves • software turns the signals into “fingers” that move the mouse and play notes on the keyboard to create music • www.brainfingers.com

Wii Music • player uses both arm motions and button presses on the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control a six-member Mii band. • only requires the player to move the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like they were playing the instruments • Extra playing options: • - woodwind instruments = the player can aim the Wii Remote up or down to simulate an increase or decrease in blowing strength • - Guitar = the player can hold down the C button to get single notes instead of chords Mii Maestro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO0oHhubE_4
