  13. Trouble with Law

  14. Law is everywhere • Although not everything deals with “The Law” by definition, most things deal with legal issues. This does not have to include courts and fines. It can include disputes, crimes, or moral issues. • “The Law” has its origins in real life issues like these. • Basically, laws are cause and effect • Something happened and the effect was to come up with a law or set of laws to create order.

  15. Law as a part of civilization • Law is a fundamental aspect of civilization. • In this course we will have to communicate thoughts and feelings about legal issues. • Ask yourself truthfully what your feelings are about LAW? • Do you have primarily positive feelings or are they mostly negative. • Your answer may depend on previous situations from your past.

  16. What you will learn • You are going to increase your ability to evaluate all of the legal information that surrounds you. • Law has a unique set of terminology you will have to learn • Through our study of case law, you will learn the skills and strategies necessary to make informed evaluations of legal issues.
