Why is air transport development important? • Economic activities that would have not occurred in the absence of air transportation: • Employment and salaries of airline personnel • Fuel purchased • Landing fees • Employment and salaries of airport personnel • Other similar purchases and expenditures • Economic benefits attributed to airport and airline activities: • Tourism (Hotels and Restaurants) • Trade • Other Retail activities • The stimulation effect on economic activity in industries that are not directly derived from or connected to the air transport activities • Multiplier Effects of direct and indirect impacts • Increased employment and salaries from secondary spending that results from direct and indirect economic impacts
