  1. Disasters On The Way To Goojey Tornado Without Warning Volcanic Eruption Dreadful Drought Landslide Danger

  2. Tornado Without Warning One morning Talison, David, Brianna and I were walking through the coniferous forest on a dark wet day. Lighting was striking everywhere around us and winds started to pick up. We all knew it was a was a tornado, also called as twister or cyclone. A funnel came downward from a cumulonimbus. We started into a sprint but it was too late. Violent winds were swirling everywhere. It was about 1000 meters away. We started to run as fast as we could. It came tearing after us. It started to rotate at least three hundred miles per hour [480 km]. I ducked into a deep fissure in the ground and yelled at everyone to follow. I looked out of the hole and saw the tornado causing destruction and death. I was sure that many areas around us were being destroyed. Tornadoes are one of the deadliest weather patterns in the world.

  3. ‘’Thank God you found this hole, Brady or we would of all died,’’ Talison said. ‘’Yea, but I think I’ve still got a broken arm from trying to hang on to this these tree roots. The pressure from that tornado going by so close to us almost sucked us out of our hole,’’ Brady replied. ‘’Just be grateful to be alive,’’ said Brianna. ‘’Lets just hope there aren’t anymore tornados,’’ David said. ‘’Hey look! More people. Let’s get directions,’’ Brady said excitedly. After talking with the strangers he remarked, ‘’There is a really bad giant, rotating, thunderstorm just ahead.’’ Brady screamed. ‘’Oh no! That is called a super cell and that is what creates tornadoes,’’ Talison said. ‘’Let’s go around,’’ replied Brianna. ‘’We can’t! That would mean we would have to go over the mountain and that would make the trip extra long,’’ Talison said. ‘’We have to go through it,’’ Brady remarked. ‘’Yeh! We survived the first one. Let’s go,’’ David said. Ten minutes later Brianna yelled over the noise, ‘’There it is! The super cell!.” ‘’Guys did you know that when cold polar air meets warm tropical air it forms a super cell,’’ said Talison.

  5. ‘’No we didn’t geek’’ laughed David. ‘’Also,” said Talison, “ the warm air rises and causes an instability when it hits the cold air.’’ “By the way the cumulonimbus clouds are giving life and forming the tornado right while we are speaking’’ said Talison. “How long have you known this?” asked Brady? “The whole time” chuckled Talison. Lighting flashes and heavy rain started to fall as Brianna yelled, “RUN!” Then a funnel descended from the clouds and a tornado came swirling out of it and every one started to run faster. “Let’s just hope the wind speed is really high so the pressure inside is low,” Talison squeaked. “ Look at our luck. Here’s another hole. We squished into the hole and the tornado roared overhead. “Brady! Brady! Brady! Are you all right?” David said. “Where's Brianna?” asked Brady. “Knocked out” said David. “As soon as she wakes up we’ve got to continue are trip,” laughed Brady.

  6. Volcanic Eruption “A boat is what we need to get off this island and continue on our journey. We’ll have to build one ourselves. We have few tools but we can do our best!” Everyone agreed. So we all started to plan what it would look like and once we’d designed a simple craft we all got to work. It took days, but it was finally finished. So we all pushed her in the water and she floated spendidly, so we set sail with the next tide. Days on the water passed quickly, but nothing exciting happened. Then suddenly we fsaw an island ahead of us begin to shake and the ground started to rumble and then a loud, fiery explosion happened right in front of our eyes. Smoke was circling in the air. We could just barely see the river of burning lava rolling down the side of the volcano. Breathing was becoming difficult because the volcano was slowly creating deadly gasses that we couldn’t breathe in. It was a good thing we were out on the water in our boat and not on land. We could have found ourselves in the middle of that eruption. Though each volcanic eruption is different some can be just ash and rocks and others can be lava, ash and deadly gasses.

  7. Soon all we could see was a blur because we were blinded by the steam and gases. Talison not knowing where he was fell overboard. A scream pierced our ears. We turned to the sound and soon one of us found a rope and tossed it to him and with some of our remaining strength we pulled him up as fast as we could. Brady and David pulled him to a seat and saw that his leg was burned from ash and lava. Captain Brady shouted orders. “Row, row, as fast as you can to get us out of this!" Brady, David, Talison and I all knew that if we were to survive this we would have to row with every last bit of energy we had. After we got a safe distance away we went back to our original duties. Brady steered the ship, David got the sails ready and I tended to Talison’s leg. Though all of us were trying to forget the adventure we just had, we knew that the loud, fiery explosion would ring in our ears and drift in our memory forever.

  8. As we sailed through the ocean a cool mist splashed my face. It was a good day to be out in the open. Warm breezes, the light sprinkle of mist from the water and a restful journey were part of our day. The sun was shining and it was beautiful. Sadly though, there was no land to be seen. But the upside was that even though we had been traveling over some underwater mountains and volcanoes none of the volcanoes became active. Out of all the things I fear the most was for an eruption to occur beneath our boat. After a late dinner I looked up at the night sky, then looked at the ocean and to my surprise I saw some red in the ocean. Then the water started to move but my feet did not budge. Then it happened, my worst nightmare, the underwater volcano erupted. Gases made their way up into the air, volcanic rocks shot out of the top, lava spewed. I was scared yet my eyes couldn't come off the sight of the blasts of rocks and the lava flows and my feet still wouldn't move. Then for a moment I thought, “Wow! Something like this could knock down forests or bun them. Then suddenly I heard my name. "Brianna! Get over here and steer while I row with the others.“ My mind at that moment sprang back into place, but as soon I started to move across the boat I tripped. I don't know what I tripped over but I fell and hard, so hard I got knocked out. Later I woke up my head still hurt. When I looked around me I saw that the morning sky was clear and quiet. No volcano, no loud noises, nothing but the sound of the ocean. Then it hit me. If what just happened had happened here imagine what happened on land. Tsunamis, earthquakes, everything! Thank goodness I was again out on the water. Though the sight of one of mother earth’s creations, the underwater volcano, will run frighteningly through my head. What I needed right then was sleep. I was glad the others had been strong enough to get us out of the area of the volcanic eruption. This wouldn’t be an area we’d choose to make our new home in if I had anything to say about it. With a sore head and aching body I fell alseep rocking with the rhyth of the waves.

  9. The winds where strong so we didn’t have to row. The wind was nice because it was warm and for many months the days where freezing. Spring was coming soon and when spring came everything changed. The winds slowed down but where still strong, the sun became brighter etc. But as we sailed there was a series of earthquakes and then one no two explosions. We all could tell a volcano was going too erupted soon. ”Row! Row as fast as you can!” Brady shouted. Talison, David and I all ran to a seat and started rowing. We watched the volcano spew ash and steam onto the air. “If this was on land and the volcano was snow-covered there would be avalanches but ithe area probably would be darkened by ash,” I thought. To think that volcano was active. We were quite far away from that volcano when suddenly another volcano erupted. It erupted with a huge BOOM! I quickly looked back at the other volcano and I saw that it had collapsed. That was a relief. But now we had a bigger problem on our hands.

  10. As I looked at the new volcano I could see that it was releasing the pressure that had been within it. The volcano had started to spew rock, ash and gases. This could destroy quite bit if we where on land. I looked to the south and I could see that over there would be a less devastating area to be in. after lot of rowing we got out of reach of the volcano (or so we thought) a volcanic rock shot out of the volcano and then landed on the boat. David went to go pick it up not knowing that it was still extremely hot. And as he picked it up his hands got scorched. The rock fell to the ground with a thud. I ran quickly to the medicine cabinet and grabbed hydro cortisone and a bucket of ice water. I went back carefully so I would not spill the water. As soon as I placed the bucket near him he put his hands in. after a good half hour David took his hands out of the water and I applied the cortisone. After some time David got up and when to his bunk because he was in excruciating pain and needed to rest. When David was just about asleep he suddenly heard a loud blast. It was the sound of the volcano but it wasn’t the first blast it was the last one. It seemed as if the blast started at two hundred twenty miles per hour but then increased to six hundred and seventy miles per hour. That last one was so loud it probably could have been heard miles and miles away. Spring had definitely sprung I didn’t tell anybody but I had a feeling that this spring was going to change everything

  11. Dreadful Drought While we were traveling the weather was extremely dry so we knew we were now faced with a drought. As we walked through the heat wave we were disheartened to realize there had been a lack of precipitation and water and food was going to be scarce. We were incredibly thirsty. When we had been walking for many miles I stumbled into a dismal water hole. As I crawled out I thought about how the grass was so dry and brown, not like back at home. I knew there was still a reason why we had left and that we wouldn’t soon chose to return to that flood zone even if we had to endure this dry area for a spell as we traveled through it. This water wasn’t really appealing but we knew we needed some water soon or we would never make it through the desert. Understandably most of the plants had died out, even inedible ones, except there were still some small cacti. We cut one open and got enough moisture from it to sustain us for a short while. Then dust started to swirl around us. It was a giant dust cloud. The swirling dust was blowing harder so we hunkered down in a group and spread a small tarp over us . We tucked in all the edges and decided to wait out the storm. Hopefully it wouln’t last long or we might find ourselves encased in a sand dune. The droughts dry weather must have caused the dust cloud by cracking theearth and with the wind blowing created the storm. We managed to wait out the storm, and when the dust had settled we used our hands to climb out of the mounds of sand surrounding us. We could see mountains in the distance. We picked up our pace looking forward to the coolness and water that must be there.

  12. Landslide Danger When we were at the mountain we found a path around the mountainside instead of through it. While we were walking the ground started shaking and then we heard a swift movement. Brady and Brianna said, “What was that?” I said, “Shaking of the earth!” Then David said it might cause an avalanche. Just then these huge boulders came flying down and smacked Brianna in the leg. The earthquake must have triggered the slide. Brady and David carried Brianna and we escaped the worst of the slide. When we came to a clearing we saw the devastation below us. Trees were obliterated. I said, “I'm glad the avalanche didn't kill us. It was time to move on. We were all looking forward to finding a safe place for the end of our journey. This wasn’t it we all agreed, though we’d need to find a new home soon because we were too weary to continue much longer.
