Today’s plan • Student poetry presentation • Sharing our “Happy” poems • A little about revision • Group work day • Getting caught up • Revision • Planning your book • Free-reading poetry
Tips to revise your poems… • Make sure you have strong verbs. • A man walks down the street. • Make sure your nouns are as descriptive as possible. • Aman walks down the street • Rid your poem of unnecessary words. • Once there was a man one day who walked his way down the sidewalk of a street.
Today is revision & catch-up day You may work with partners (up to four) to… Revise your poem inspired by “Cody”. Revise your “Happy” catalog poem from yesterday. Make a plan for how you are going to make your poetry chapbook. Finished with all that? Each member of the group grab a poetry book and explore. Share anything interesting you find with your peers. Or, work on a poem of your own. (Your five poems for your book don’t have to be ones we’ve started in class.) MAKE THIS TIME COUNT!
