  1. By: Cedric & Jordan The Outer Space

  2. Formation of Red Giants • Red giants form when the hydrogen in the stars core is used up. The flow of the energy from the core stops. Thus ( Cedric and Jordan did not copy and paste they arejust very smart) the center spots of the star will eventually heat up and collapse. • The equation for the fusion of hydrogen into helium.

  3. What are Red Giants made of? • Red giants are made up of Helium, carbon and depending on how big it is other stuff but mostly helium and carbon from what I understand.

  4. Cycle

  5. Pictures of Red giants

  6. Interesting fact • Betelgeuse is a red giant that is so huge it would extend as far out into the solar system as the planet Jupiter, encompasses Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter itself.

  7. Formation of Blue giants • It forms from a cool cloud which then gets bigger and collapses in on its own weight and the temperature and density increases.

  8. What are Blue Giants made of ? • Blue giants are made up of 75% hydrogen and 24% helium and very rare elements. The reason the blue giant stars are blue is because the kind and amount of energy it releases.

  9. Pictures of Blue giants

  10. Fun fact A blue giant can produce 10,000 times more energy than the sun. The largest blue giants are blue supergiant stars with a surface temperature of 60,000 degrees Fahrenheit and 25 times bigger than the sun.

  11. Formation of White dwarfs • As the white dwarf star becomes larger in mass, the degree of the electron corruption increases, and the most vigorous electrons become relativistic the pressure follows the equation P = K ρ4/3. This is an n = 3 polytrope.

  12. What are white dwarfs made of? • White dwarfs are made mostly of carbon and a coated thin layer of hydrogen and helium gases that is surrounded. • 12C + 1H → 13N + γ13N → 13C + e+ + νe13C + 1H → 14N + γ 14N + 1H → 15O + γ 15O → 15N + e+ + νe15N + 1H → 12C + 4He

  13. Pictures of White Dwarfs

  14. Fun fact • White dwarfs are hotter than red giants but not as bright. • The first white dwarf was discovered in 1862. • A white dwarf is 200,000 times as dense as earth. • Inside the star it is one million times denser than water.

  15. About the sun • The sun has been active for about 4.5 billion years already. • At the end of its life it will start to fuse helium into bigger and heavier elements • It will blow up and become a red giant that will eat earth up. • After tons and many years it will become a white dwarf and when the energy inside burns up it will become a black dwarf. • How Stuff Works Videos "When the Sun Becomes a Red Giant Star"
