  9. What does the Sun do? • The Sun provides heat for our planet. • The Sun provides light for our planet. • Without the Sun we could not live on Earth. Go to Helpful Astronauts

  10. When the Earth is facing the Sun it is light out. This means it is daytime. • When the other side of Earth is facing the sun it is dark. This means that it is night time. • It takes the Earth one year to orbit all the way around the Sun. Go to Helpful Astronauts

  11. Shadows • When the Sun is blocked shadows appear. • When the sun is blocked it will be darker in the shadows. • What else is different in shadows? Go to Helpful Astronauts

  12. As the Earth orbits around the Sun an amazing thing happens… It is night time when the Earth is facing away from the Sun. It is day time when the Earth is facing the Sun. The Earth is always rotating on its own axis. This takes an entire day to complete. Go to Helpful Astronauts
