  14. Organizations Served by Cisco in FY08 Using a Cisco ASA-5505, America’s Second Harvest was able to set-up a VPN between our Chicago office and a new food bank opened in San Diego. The new food bank just opened and has very limited funding for technology and no funding for technology staff.  Using the ASA-5505, we connected them to our systems in Chicago so they could run their email, warehouse food management and financial accounting system off our server.  We also used a Cisco switch to network the local San Diego office PCs.  As they expand, they will likely install a Cisco VOIP system. The majority of our food banks are smaller operations with no technology staff and very limited budgets.... The ability to acquire Cisco equipment through Tech Soup is a great benefit to our network. As the economy becomes worse and more people are in need of our assistance, we need to direct even more operating funds to food and transportation, leaving even less for technology. Cisco’s support of this program is a great help to America’s Second Harvest’s mission of providing hope by Feeding America. The CEE Direct Model • TechSoup CEE office • TechSoup will host and run operations regionally from their CEE office in Warsaw, and will manage/ coordinate with TS Affiliates and TS Fellows (with assistance as required from the head office global operations team). • Regional rather than Country focus • For activities such as defining eligibility and outreach, the focus will be placed on implementing a regional rather than country specific model. This will help simplify the deployment and ongoing management of the model. • Introduction of Advisory Board Concept • Key stakeholders and regional experts will be engaged to help assist in the design and evolution of the direct model and the core components of the model such as the TechSoup affiliates and fellows concepts.
