  2. Prepositions A preposition is a joining word that connects a noun or pronoun to the rest of the sentence.

  4. Prepositions • When trying to find a preposition in a sentence, think “Anywhere a skunk can go”.

  5. Prepositions A skunk can go… Under, Over, Between, Up, Down , Upon, Past , Toward, and so on…

  6. Prepositions Write the preposition in each sentence. • The cat and dog ran through the yard. • My little brother jumped over the fence. • I was hiding under the table. • The astronauts landed on the moon. • Let me take a picture of you.

  8. Prepositional Phrases A prepositional phrase is the preposition and the noun it is connected to in the sentence. That noun is called the object of the preposition. Example: We walked under the umbrella so we wouldn’t get wet from the rain. • Under the umbrella is a prepositional phrase, under is the preposition and umbrella is the object of the preposition. • From the rain is a prepositional phrase, from is the preposition and rain is the object of the preposition.

  9. Prepositional Phrases Write the prepositional phrase in each sentence. • The cat and dog ran through the yard. • My little brother jumped over the fence. • I was hiding under the table. • The astronauts landed on the moon. • Let me take a picture of you.
